| OMG I need advice - Possible Parvo Exposure It is almost 1 am NY time. My DH and I just got home from going out to dinner with our friends from across the street. They just got a new puppy last Friday 9/8. On Sunday 9/10, me and DH took TJ and Roxy for a walk and stopped by. TJ didn't really like the puppy, but all three were in breif contact (5 mins.) The puppy was approx. 8 weeks old and they adopted her from the North Shore Animal League. Anyway, the puppy has been VERY sick. Vomiting and losing weight. She is back at the shelter in the hospital on IV, etc...They told our friends today, that they think she might have PARVO I am freaking out, I am going to cry - I am so scared...TJ and Roxy are both up to date on their shots and it has been approx. 7 days since they were in contact with the puppy. My Vet is open on Monday, so I will call first thing and ask them what I should do. I am terrified right now, I don't know if I can sleep. Please say a prayer for TJ and Roxy and also for this little puppy who is in the hospital right now. Please, if anyone has any advice for me I would really appreciate it. THANKS |

| here you can read up on it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canine_parvovirus but from my experience i think they'll be fine..but if they start having any diarrhea, vomiting, inappetince i would take them to the vet asap the sooner the better their chances ive seen tons of parvo dogs even tiny puppies and they do fine when caught on time..but just in case clean everything real good with bleach and water...parvo can live a longtime i hope this helps |

| The incubation period for parvo is at least 4 days up to 7 days so I would think you are almost already on safe ground, if the exposure was on the 10th. If yours are up to date on their shots and they are adults then your chances are pretty good nothing will come of the exposure. The good thing is that if they do get it it will probably be a light case and you can start treatment immediately since you will be watching for any symptoms and recognize them immediately. Hope the little one will be fine, keep us posted. |

| Nicole! I don't blame you for being scared, but hopefully what Lacy's Mom told you about the incubation being 4-7 days...and it's almost that...you should feel a little better! How scary for you! I truly think they will be fine, but watch for any symptoms and get them to a vet asap if they should show any symptoms. Bless their sweet little hearts...and yours too! I'll say a prayer for them and also for that poor baby in the hospital! I hope you can get some sleep tonight!!! Hugs to you!!!

| Ok, thanks everyone. It is 7:45 am NY time now. I did sleep last night (Thanks to 2 glasses of Sangria at dinner). I will watch for signs and just go from there, if need be. I really appreciate your knowledge and thoughtfulness. I also hope that poor puppy makes it. That family has been through so much lately with the pets. A couple of months ago, they lost their 4 yr. Maltese (freak car accident). Their 11 yr. old daughter is just going to be devistated if this puppy doesn't make it. |

| That's a tough age to have to deal with the loss of anything. I guess any age is, but with raging hormones, it tends to get worse. I'll be praying for you and your babies, and the little guy at the vet's and his family. God Bless you and take care of you all.

| So far NO SIGNS in TJ and Roxy. It has been 7 days since they were in contact with the puppy. The puppy (Bella) started to vomit ALOT on Tuesday 9/12 and then she has been going down hill ever since. I will find out tomorrow from my friend how the puppy is doing. Thanks everyone for your prayers. I was soooooooooooo scared last night. When we went to pick them up for dinner, I wanted to go inside to see the puppy and the "Dad" said she was at the hospital and they thought it was PARVO. Me and my hubby practical crapped in our pants We both were like "WHAT"???? I really hope the puppy pulls through this. |

| I just found out that the puppy passed away on Saturday night from Parvo... Very Sad TJ and Roxy seem ok, except starting yesterday they seem to be Congested They both are snoring very very loud and sneezing, and gagging and running nose. This afternoon I bring Roxy back to the Ortho Specialist for her 6 week check-up from her LP surgery, so I will talk to her about all of this. |

| I wonder if they've gotten colds. I don't think that would be symptoms of parvo! I'll say another prayer! I'm so sorry about that little puppy that died! TJ & Roxy...you little sweeties stay well!!!
