| advice please... My baby isn't eating much and seems to change what he wants to eat daily. I want to keep him healthy so can anyone suggest good things to feed him? I did take him to the vet and they said he is very prone to having hypoglycemia which should ware off in time but that I have to keep him stable and find foods that help keep him balanced. The problem is that I am unsure what to give him since he wonlt stay on any one thing long. he quit eating solid dry food so i changed him to canned food. he quit eating that this morning and refuses to touch it so I gave him some chicken which he seems to like better but I think he needs more than just chicken. He is also getting backed up again and not pooping good, He did this shortly after coming home. I know it is not from the change in foods because this began before the food changes occured but I fear it might be increased by the food change. I only know I will do anything to keep my boy healthy. Can anyone give me advice or suggestions on things for him? I know it is not something I have done that is keeping him this way and I want to assure I don't do anything to make him worse. This morning he was drooling a little and seemed better after I did change him to the chicken. I only know after what I went through with my other boy I will do ANYTHING to keep this little guy healthy and happy. My dad thinks I am worrying too much but the vet confirmed he needs more and that it sounds like he gets the hypoglycemia easily due to his tiny size. That and giving him the nutrical makes him bounce back within minutes. I just think my heart isa doing flip flops now...every little thing worries me. ~Tru

| Have you tried mixing the food with cottage cheese or scrambled egg?

Our pet store in town started carrying the Natural Balance Rolls and Maddie absolutely loves them. They even have small ones for 99 cents so you can see if your dog likes them. Here's a website where you can get them online: http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/products/DFRolls.html Good luck!!!

| Please take him to your vet and have him Bile Acid tested. I hate to have just joined this list and preach about livershunt but what you are describing are possible symptoms, such as the picky eating (im not saying all picky eaters are showing signs) but you also said bouts of hypoglycemia and drooling. High protein meals make symptoms worse. Please just have him checked, its a simple blood test that can be done at your vets office. Alot of vets dont know much about livershunts so therefor dont know all the symptoms. http://www.vet.utk.edu/clinical/sacs/shunt/faq.shtml The symptoms of liver shunt can start to appear at almost any age. Dogs with a liver shunt are usually very thin dogs who pick at food. They not only have a poor appetite but they can become lethargic, dizzy, and stagger. They may try to climb out of their pen, climb higher on you and cry and throw their head far back after eating, and they may go into convulsions. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali was 1 lb at 10 weeks and very prone to hypoglycemia. She had 3 very bad attacks and I had to feed her every 3-4 hours and still at 14 months feed her 3 times a day. She was a very picky eater. So I give her the lowest protein chicken and a little wet dog food. She is almost 5 lbs and doing much better. She does have a mild liver shunt but the vet did not feel this was the cause of her illnesses. Once she turned 8 months she was like a different dog. Hopefully your baby will do better as she gets older.

| The first day I had Jake home, he wouldn't eat his food, so I put about a teaspoon of cottage cheese on it, and he gobbled it right down. Another thing you can try, if you haven't already. Will he eat his food from your hand? Jake seemed a little scared of his dish at first, so I hand-fed him the first couple days. After that, he just started eating on his own whenever he wants. He's about the same age as your baby, so you could try it. Good luck to you! |

| I have no suggestions that other haven't given alreay on getting him to eat, but I know Neutra-Cal is some good stuff. I know if I wasn't pooping thought, I sure wouldn't wanna eat either! Can you blame the poor pup? Put some NeutraCal on your finger, and let him lick it off. The instructions say when they aren't eating, 3tsp per 10 lbs of body weight daily. I'd do this till he starts eating again. The lady that I got Venus from gave me a tube of it, and it does work well when they won't eat. I wish everyone that sold puppies would give the new owner a tube of it! |

| I can help on the not pooping part. My little guy wouldn't poop after surgery and the ER told me to feed him Pumpkin (canned pumpkin) the kind you find in a store. Not the one that has the spices in it just plain pumpkin. Baby is 10 pounds and they told me to give him two tablespoon once every twelve hours. It did the job. And they love it and it is all natural. It is something they will love for a treat also. I mix some in Baby's food once a day . The vet said it was a natural laxitive. I hope this helps you out. Val Keep us posted please on how he is doing. |
