| What is the best food for yorkies? Hi, I am somewhat new here... My yorkie (Chewy) is four months old. I needed to change his food because I live at the tip of Cape Cod, and to get his food I had to drive an hour! so I tried to change it a little bit at time... Then he got Diarrhea and the vet said to give him boiled chicken and rice until it went away... now I am trying to change him over to ewkanewba and he is being really fussy about it. (He has always been pretty fussy) What do you guys feed your puppies??? I'm a mess when he doesn't want to eat because he's still young... I wind up hand feeding him... He is spoiled rotten! |

| I feed mine Chicken Soup For The Puppy Lovers Soul. It's tiny bite size pieces, has great ingredients and isn't that expensive. Yorkies can be prone to corn allergies so you might want to get a food that doesn't have corn. I bought mine at Pet Supplies Plus. |

| i started w/ekanuba for snickers and had to stop because of the corn in it/allergy i went to nutro ultra puppy (you can get it at petsmart) its a higher quality food than ekanuba w/better ingredients and around the same pricing i am now going to try chicken soup - it seems to be popular on this site and the ingredients seem to be healthier i went to the chicken soup website and got a list of local retailers and i am picking it up later hope this helps |

| Gracie is just 10 weeks old. She still eats primarily canned food, Merrick's or Natural Balance. She is beginning to enjoy her kibble. I put out both Chicken Soup (puppy formula) and Royal Canin (mini-puppy). She will eat both, but she prefers the Royal Canin. I know it has corn in it, but it does not seem to bother her. An option for you is to order online. Pet Food Direct has Chicken Soup and many other brands, and you can set up automatic monthly shipping. I have ordered other things from them and got good service. Here is the link: http://www.petfooddirect.com Just type in Chicken Soup or any other brand in the search box.

| After getting educated here at Yorkie Talk, I switched recently from IAMS to Canidae. At the same time, I started adding Missing Link Plus to Demi's food. It's only been 18 days since I made the change and I swear her coat has gotten a ton better -- silky and shiny, when it used to look dry and grizzled, and her hair is growing like mad. I've had to trim her twice since I changed her diet. I'm very pleased with the results! BTW, thanks to whoever it was that posted the link to dogfoodanalysis.com -- great site! |

If you plan to change do it over a few day period. Changing too quickly will cause diarreah. Lil yorkie's digestive system is their down fall. | |

| There are a lot of dogs that don't like Eukanuba, plus like Snickers Mom said, it has corn in it which can cause (???) allergies. Although Trixie has never had any problems with eating any sort of food, or non food for that matter I've heard good things about Royal Canine and Chicken Soup.

| Well i need to try some thing new because Chewy docent like the ekanuba and isn't eating much at all... I tried the nutro and it gave him diarrhea but now I'm wondering if it was just that his system was getting messed up with the change. I tried doing it little at a time but then had to do the whole chicken and rice thing... Now I am adding the dog food to the rice... HUH I don't know what to do with him. maybe I'll try the Nutro once more before I write it off! how many days do you add the old food and the new food before you can just give them the new food by itself??? HELP! |

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | After being educated here at YT, I've switched ALL my dogs over to Chicken Soup. I didn't even do it slow, I did it all at once and had absolutly no problems with anyone and everyone really likes it and is eating it just fine. I buy it at Pets Supplies Plus. Good luck! |
