That is really weird. UHG I can imagine how she hated leaving it there once she knew it was in there. One would just want to stand in the shower for like 3 dys. |

Oh Maddie, poor baby. I'm glad mommy took good care of you. Maddie's mommy, don't feel bad. Things happen. jenbermu: that is totally gross. I saw that on ER untold stories or something like that. This woman complained about feeling something... I missed that part. anyway the er doc was looking at the top of her scalp and when he pressed down on it the worms popped through. it was gross... she too had been in costa rica. she could feel them crawling around.. bleek... pass the wine... |
Thanks for the information, I would not thought of the tonsils problem or a maggot problem. I would of freaked out too. |
Wow...what would I ever do without all you yt'ers support! I am feeling better after reading all your threads, but I still say that is the grossest thing...seems like that sort of thing is meant for a horror movie! I still feel as if I have creepy crawly things on me...so does my daughter! I think Maddie is already feeling a bit better. She sleeps a lot, but that is good...t'will help her heal. The site of the sore...she is very swollen in that area, but the meds should also help that. My vet didn't think Maddie got her tonsillitis from me, but I really wonder. I've had a cold and sore throat and probably shouldn't have let her give me kisses. I'm going to be more careful about that when I'm sick, just in case it was from me. My gosh...the story about the worm in the ladie's head...that is truly creepy and if it were me, they'd have to put me in a state of comatose if the darn thing had to live in there for 3 more days! Yikes. One thing about Maddie...it was a very small one, so we did catch it very early. Otherwise, it would have kept growing. Ewwwwwww! *Passing the wine to Tiggerwit!* |
Doesn't gross me out that much! These things just happen. But, I'm glad that you visited the vet and got it taken care of. Carol Jean |
Thank you for sharing your story, it shows us what CAN happen to these kids! Glad Maggie is feeling better! Give her extra hugs from us.:aimeeyork I bet that wine was divine lol... i would have done the same thing!;) |

It will make your grandma feel MUCH better and she really IS a marvelous little yorkie.....OK ? Thanks ! |

Oh, I watched something similar on a show the other night.......I thought I would never have to think of if again.....it was the grossest thing I have ever seen., I thought I would puke... .....I never thought it could happen to a person.... Goes to show you......:tongue012 :tongue012 |
That is gross but i am glad you posted it it could happen to someone elses dog and them not know what it is. |
I'm sharing this here Connie - because what happened to Maddie could have been much worse....You mentioned Dog Parks - so I want to post this here....and let you know that what happened may have been gross at the time - but BE thankful it wasn't something worse.. My friend Jamie and I meet at a Dog Park here in Houston - My girls - and her little Katie.... are such mommies girls they hardly walk around - But....Her 6 year old Gracie just strolls ALL OVER the park - She's a hoot - just walks around enjoying herself - no leash - nothing - she's such a good girl - They don't really know if this happened at the dog park - but it probably did:( Gracie started biting and biting her foot - they went to the vet - the vet gave them antibiotics - and weeks of treatment - the foot didn't get better - It ended up like RAW Hamburger - So MORE vet visits & BIG BUCKS later - after skin scrapings and all sorts of tests and medications ...My frienbd even had to give her injections at home - - they finally diagnosed her with under the skin mites....and they still wouldn't go away - I talked her into MY vet who I think is great - and they got her on track and her foot finally started healing - but this took like 3-4 MONTHS....The vets she was going to tried their best but man - Mites are hard to get rid of and her little foot was a mess ...Actually they were even saying she could lose her foot And my Friend is one of THE BEST Yorkie moms I know - She lives for her 2 girls and they get the best vet care and love and attention -this foot was a FLUKE .....Just like what happened to Mahvelous Maddie :) A FLUKE !!! |
V that is so awful that that happened to your friend. That dog is lucky to not have lost its foot. Chachi had Mites and it took alot to get rid of them. I cant imagine under the skin mites. Theres someone on this forum now that dog has them and they cant get rid of them. When Chachi had them his entire back was raw. I feel for anyone who has to deal with mites. |

Oh man Chachi - I saw her foot when it didn't look so bad - but she was practically in a cast it was so bad for a while..... Do you remember who's yorkie has mites here ? I could tell my friend about them and she'd be happy to talk to them - it was so hard for them to get it cleared up - She could tell it better than me - but they were at the vet every WEEK for months - it was awful and Gracie WAS lucky she didn't lose her foot - I have to praise my vet here - once they started seeing him instead of the vet they were going to - Things started looking up - I won't say they weren't treating her right but it was THAT bad that nothing was working to heal the Rawness and get rid of the mites.....he's the one who finally got the right treatment going ...but it took a long long time. Poor Chachi - and on his back of all places - that had to be so horrible itching like that and not being able to scratch it. I remember what you went thru and they are NO FUN at all - It sounds like nothing to hear people talk about these kinds of things - but when you've actually experienced it - you know how bad it really is.....and you hurt so much for your dog. |
V the member whose dog has mites is thisHunny and if your friend contacted her that would be great. She is in Canada. Her vet is only prescribing medication for it and it isnt helping. She has pmed me a couple of times about it. |
Oh wow, Villette! I am thanking my lucky stars that Maddie will hopefully heal quickly and it's a one-time thing! I feel so bad for that poor baby you were telling about! Thank goodness your vet came to the rescue! I bet she's keeping that vet, huh? I will not be letting Maddie run around the dog park anymore. I can't say for sure that's where she got this, but it was after the dog park that all her problems started. That same night she was having those sneezing fits or whatever they were...less than an hour after we got home. Up until then, I hadn't noticed anything with her. I'll still go there...to the dog park. I go visit a friend when she takes her boxers there...but, I'll be holding Maddie. Tell your friend I'm so glad her little sweetie didn't end up losing her foot!!! |
