| Stray toothless yorkie Hi I am new to this board, i joined to see if anyone could give me some advice? My daughter found a tiny stray yorkie girl about 2 pounds i checked everywhere the pound the paper the neighborhod and no one is looking for her! she appears to have not been cared for too well. we will keep her unless we happen to find her owner. but she has her tongue hanging out of one side of her mouth, so i looked in her mouth to see if she was injured, she only has one tooth! her eyes are clear and bright and she does not appear to be old at all, why would she not have any teeth if she is still young? i think maybe she was only fed soft foods? its just a theory of mine. she is doing great here and we are taking good care of her i just thought maybe someone might know why she wouldnt have teeth or could just give general advice. we have 2 other small dogs and shes doing great with them and our kids. thankyou |

| Bless you for taking in this yorkie. I would recommend you take her to the vet to make sure she isn't ill and that she is healthy. Poor girl, probably so scared. I don't know why she wouldn't have teeth unless she's reallllllllly young but even then I think they have some teeth. The vet might be able to tell you how old she is. Good luck and great job!

| Bless you for taking in this poor little girl! I would definately take her right to the vet to make sure everything is well with her. You would hate for her to have something and give it to your other dogs. I agree that the reason she probably doesn't have any teeth is because she ate only soft food and they weren't cared for. Let us know how everything turns out! Can we see pics? |

| Welcome to YT and bless you for taking in this little girl. Please have the vet check her over and maybe he can tell you approximately how old she is and whether there was/is gum disease and that is why only one tooth. Sounds like she has already bonded with your family. I hope she is forever yours!

Oh, and about her size...don't be fooled into thinking she's a pup. Lots of Yorkies stay that small for their whole life. She's probably over a year if she doesn't have her teeth. I don't think they'd fall out that fast. But, I have been known to be wrong...once or twice! Bless your heart for taking her in. Good luck, and PLEASE keep us updated. We don't want you to disappear on us!

| Welcome to YT. the poor little thing. Someone must have had her teeth pulled due to an infection. You might call around to all of the vets in your area to see if they know anything about her. Has she been spayed? I can't believe anyone would have been breeding her, but you never know what some idiots will do for a buck. |

| welcome to YT and bless you for taking her in you home with such warmth. I second all the suggestions on going to the vet. (might be microchipped.) poor thing... wonder how long she was out there? Can you immagine, with all the fireworks going off every where, how scared she must have been? keep up updated on her progression. I wish you all the best and hope you can keep her.
