Pray for my baby Bentley...vet thinks it non-cardiac pulmonary adema Boy I had a very bad scare this morning. We got up this morning and Bentley was doing terribly. He was having so much trouble breathing and he was so lethargic. I knew something had to be done quickly. I called my vet back to see when they were able to get him in with the cardiologist and they said not until the 15th!!!! I told them, NO WAY...so they got me in as emergency. I practically flew over to the specialist 2 hours away and was anticipating the worst. As you may know, my regular vet suspected a heart defect (PDA). The vets there did two echos on him and they said that the do not see any defects, but they did say it was really hard to see since he is so tiny. Anyway, now they are leaning towards non-cardiac pulmonary edema which he said normally comes from some type of trauma to the lungs. The only thing i can figure is maybe he got his head stuck in his kennel while i was away in town. They admitted him to the hospital. He'll be in an oxygen chamber, on IV antibiotics & on IV lasix for as long as a week. Please Please pray for my baby Bentley to get well much sooner!!! The vet said it's a little harder to get the fluid out of the lungs when it's not cardiac related, but if they are successful, he should be back to normal. I totally believe in the power of prayer. Please ask everyone u know to pray for my baby....I can't imagine life without him. I lost my father a few months ago and I can't stand the thought of losing Bentley too. Thanks A Bunch.

How is Bentley today? I know about these problems as my Jesse was afflicted with tsimilar problems. His was from a severe reaction to meds at age 6 weeks. Sounds like your baby is being caref for properly and should be up and around in no time. At least, that is my prayer.. I feel especially close to puppies with this problem.

Update...Thursday May 25th Hi All....Thanks so much for the prayers and kind words. Here's an update....as of 5:00 this evening....Bentley is stable...he's active and eating. The vet said they were just about to do more x-rays to check to see how much fluid is leaving his lungs. He's still in the oxygen chamber on IV lasix, fluids, & antibiotics....but seems to be doing OK. Please, please continue your prayers for him...he needs all the prayers he can get. The vet says he'll be there at least a few more days, so please pray for me too...lol...i miss him desperately. I keep catching myself looking for him. I am praying that he'll get well quickly and return to his loving home. We are patiently waiting. Hugs, Jill

I need ur advice... Ok....I don't know what to do. I want to go visit him at the hospital (2 hours away) but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. I mean, he'll get all excited, then I'll have to leave him behind again...but on the other hand, I don't want him to think we've abandoned him and give up. What do u think????
