| Vomitting up food Wile E. will lose his appetite for a few days, only eating a few bites hear and there. He never acts like he is sick or lethargic or any of the symptoms mentioned in other threads. Then he will be playing and just stop and throw up a stomach full of food. He has only done this a couple of times, but the pattern seems to be the same. This is gross - but the vomit is usually pretty firm (no fluid) and you can see the undigested food pieces in it. I have spoken with the vet and she didn't seem too concerned. She said that as long as he is still pooping, then he doesn't have anything lodged in his intestines. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has any thoughts. |

| I don't know if you feed your baby 'people food' or not, but if you do, PLEASE stop. I made that mistake when I first got Jasper and he got really sick with pancreantitis. Now he's got a weak immune system and it wouldn't take much people food to make him sick. But even before that, he'd throw up for no reason at all. And it was whole food just like you're describing. Did you change anything in his diet recently? The vet told me if you change the brand of food, to slowly put them on it because it's not good for them to switch brands 'cold turkey' lol. As long as he's eating something and going number 2 like your vet said, he should be ok. Yorkies have very weak stomachs, so don't worry too much. Hope he's feeling better! |

| Ginger just threw up at my feet. After cleaning it up and checking on her, I decided to post...because I'm beginning to see a pattern too. She does the same thing, she'll seem fine, except she has little interest in food. Then she gets sick. I used to rush her to the vet everytime it happened. They told me the same thing, if she's pooping, don't worry. How do you not worry? And even if they have a blockage, couldn't a little bm escape before being blocked? Anyone know how to take a dog's temp? I'd like to know if her temps up when she does this. Wile E. I promise to keep you posted if I hear anything that may help...how's your baby today? |

| Wile E. is doing great today as usual. He acts like he is starving to death though. I fed him plenty of food this morning and he keeps going back to his food bowl hoping that more has appeared. That also seems to be part of his pattern. Once he has thrown up, he seems to get his appetitie back. I never feed him people food and for the most part his acts like a healthy puppy. So, I guess for now I won't worry about him. Oh, and I think you have to take a dog's temperature rectally. |

| perhaps he is eating too much at a time or the food youre feeding isnt giving him enough nutrients (which will always make them want more) what feed are you using?

| I'm glad to hear he's doing better today. I called my vet about Ginger again this morning...she told me again, that if that's her only symptom, she wouldn't be too upset. She told me I could try Pepsid next time she started acting uniterested in food...poor dogs already on Benydryl (seasonal allergies), Intercept, and an antibiotic (which doesn't run out for another week). I'm really not to anxious to give her something else, though. On the bright side, she's been herself all day (after throwing up), and even joined me on a 3 mile walk, with enough energy to chase the squirrels around the back yard when we got home. She's crashed now! Thanks for the advice on the temp ..guess I'll pass for now! |

| I feed him Science Diet which should have adequate nutrition. I don't think I feed him too much at a time, but I could be wrong. He is big for a yorkie, almost 9 pounds, so I feed him 1/3 cup, 3 times a day. His weight is fine for his size - he is a bigger dog, but not overweight. Now that I have read your replies and other threads, I am wondering if he isn't getting enough exercise. That could cause him to not be hungry. I take him for walks, but I always feel like we shouldn't go very far since he is a little dog. If Ginger is walking 3 miles, then surely Wile E. can handle a longer walk. |

| lol If you decide on a longer walk, remember to take lots of water! Ginger's a "teapot" too, she's 12 lbs (not fat either, just a "big" little girl) and we've been going on pretty long walks ever since she was a pup...I've haven't tired her out yet! BTW, how's Wile E's belly today?

| I wouldn't worry about it either as long as your puppy is going to the bathroom and is feeling good. All my dogs have thrown up occasionally - especially puppies....I'm sure it's like babies spitting up a lot. I think their tummys just get a little too full - and they go running around, etc., and up it comes. Your little guy may not seem to have much of an appetite, but he's obviously getting more food than you think he is. It's surprising how much "a bite here and a bite there" can add up for these little guys. Stop and think how small their stomachs must be. My vet had a person with a small dog who said that her pup wouldn't eat - only a treat now and then. The vet had her write down every bite the pup ate during the day - every treat - every little bite of anything the pup had. And, he said that her list added up to more than he would even feed that dog in a day ..... surprise! surprise! surprise! And - he said that so many people tell him, "My dog won't eat dog food." Who would? - he said. First of all they get better stuff all day long - and second, they are full by the time the dog food gets put down in front of them. Carol Jean |
