| Alien Poop???? I apologize in advance for the details of this thread. I also think this is the first thread I have started, so I hate for it to be on this subject. My yorkie has always been pretty good at pooping on her peepads. Today I walked through my bedroom and noticed she had pooped in the doorway going into my bathroom. I got some toilet paper to pick it up with and I noticed it was not normal poop. It looked like........ uhm...... well....... I know this is soooo gross..... let me try to describe it the best I can. It looked like (not the color, obviously) a sausage link....... it was moist poop but on the outside was a thick, moucousy funky colored, slimy "encasing" like the see through skin on a sausage link. It had NO smell to it but I have never seen poop like that. I examined it a little close at it was like something that mutated from an alien --- it just didn't look like anything that has ever come from my dog. It was also about 4 inches long.... when I picked it up, it didn't ever come apart, but looked like--- I don't know...... an intestine or something...... EWWWWWWW-- I KNOW this is so nasty, but I just don't know what I should do. To my knowledge she has not eaten anything out of the normal. I did spray some ant spray yesterday (Raid) by the back door to kill the little *&^#%@'s but I kept her away from the area and as soon as the ants were dead, I mopped up the area and there was no residue at all, so I don't think that is the cause. Does anyone have any ideas of what may have caused it or has anyone ever seen any poop like this????? |

| I would keep an eye on her and if she has another one like it, don't flush it, take it to the vet. No need to appologize, we discuss poop a lot on here. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My dogs get weird poop a lot. Green mucousy, slimy. Cali just had 4 episodes of it 2 nights ago. I have some meds from the vet I gave her and now she hasn't gone since! I would get a sample to the vet to be safe.

| Would you believe I picked up something very similiar about an hour ago and like yourself I had never examined one in such close detail and was wondering was it irregular? Just a question, what do you feed your wee dog? I feed Poppy Ryal Canine nuts and Caesar dog food.....just wondering is there a common link! Now after such a pleasant topic...I wish you a pleasant day!

| Do you feed greenies? Greenies caused my dogs pup to be covering a green slime. I know they are the cause because when we stopped feeding him greenies the slimy poop stopped too.

| Here's an article on whipworms that mentions mucous in stools, but it also says the dog will have chronic weight loss. Whipworms This parasite is more often seen in dogs than cats. Adult whipworms, although seldom seen in the stool, look like tiny pieces of thread with one end enlarged. They live in the cecum, the first section of the dog's large intestine. Infestations are usually difficult to prove since the whipworms shed comparatively few eggs; so an examination of even several stool samples may not reveal the presence of whipworms. If a dog is presented with chronic weight loss and passes stool that seems to have a covering of mucous (especially the last portion of stool the dog passes), and lives in a kennel situation or an area where whipworms are prevalent, the veterinarian may prescribe a whipworm medication based upon circumstantial evidence. Repeat wormings may be necessary especially if there is a probability that the dog will become reinfested. Although they seldom cause a dog's death, whipworms are a real nuisance for the dog and can be a problem for the veterinarian to diagnose. |

| that's very interesting. The Caesar food I have been giving to Poppy the last three days has peas in it...so who knows I will certainly be keeping a close eye!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I feed her a tiny bit of Cesars with each meal. Also green milk bones will color the poop green but not make it weird looking.

| well they found a bacteria in her stool. The vet said that all dogs have this bacteria in there intestines but some dogs produce it more. The slimy poop is a sign of it. She gave me amoxicilin for her. She also said that stress or something diff. in her diet (such as table scraps or treats) can drigger it. Her last bout of diah. was yesterday morning and I am still waiting for her to poop and see what happens . Hmmmmmmmm 48 hours and no poop yet. |
