When Emmy got her shots, we couldn't pick her up or touch her because she would just cry. Her sister, Tia, had the same exact reaction. I was really concerned too, but after a few days she was fine. I know it's so sad when you hear them cry because they're so helpless, but trust me your pup will be ok in a few days time!! =)

I would certainly recommend you find a new Vet. No puppy that age or size should be given a bordetalla anything.
If there is a problem in your area, no less than six months without consulting a few Vets that do actually know toy dogs. Not all of them do.
Hope she is going to be okay, hopefully she will recover just fine.

Unfortunataely I did research these vet and they assured me that they worked with small breeds allthe time. But now I am going to have to look around again, as I am not sure i will be comfortable with them when it comes to the spay.

No kidding!! I wouldn't go there either when spaying time comes around. What you can do if you bought locally is ask your breeder. Or you can maybe find breeders of any toy breeds of dogs in your area what Vet to use.
You know when I moved, the first item on my agenda was to find a new good Vet which took not too long. I didn't find a doctor for me until I managed to tear out my Achilles tendon and had to find one in my area. LOL
You should not have had to deal with this, that wasn't right for this Vet to put this on you or your baby.
Actually you can do alittle interview with a new prospective vet if you already know the answers. For example, don't tell him or her you already had bordetalla done and ask if they would recommend it at this age. If they say yes, go to next candidate. You can also ask if they would give a rabies shot at the same time a dog is under anaesthesia. The answer should be no. Those are just a couple of questions that will put red flags up if they don't get it right.
That is quite a small puppy to be in a new home. You will have to watch very carefully for hypoglycemia. Make sure she is eating and doesn't get too over excited or played out. A little nutrical on hand is good, and she really shouldnt be left on her own for too long a period of time.
I am not happy letting any of my puppies go until they are 2 1/2 lbs minimum. These little ones are a little more touchier and can go down quicker than a pup even 1/2 lbs bigger at the same age.

Hi Lorainne.
She is small. I leave her a few hours a day because I work, but she has eaten we;ll before I leave anad she does get nutrical 3x a day. She is eating well, and gets plenty of naps. I know some breeders don't let them go earlier than 12 to 14 weeks, but I felt comfortable withthis breeder as I was inthir home and met the sire and damn as they are part of the family and I could tell they were not just putting on a show as to the way the parents interacted with the breeders. They had nothing to hide that is for sure. The pups were very social and started onpad training already. And this little girl stole my heart at first contact. I am doing research and will contiune to do so before I go for the her shots at 13 weeks.

My yorkie had her parvo shot and then she got sick have had her to the vet they say her body is not producing white blood cells has anyone ever heard anything about this? the vet said he had never seen it and did not know what to do any help im heart broken?

I would be looking for another vet stat! I don't know anything about this problem. But there has to be someone who has seen something like this before. Best of luck!

we took her to Va Tech they are great there they have no clue what to do

i'm no expert, but it sounds like she has contracted parvo - have they done an ELISA test. this test takes about 15 minutes and confirms a parvo diagnosis. i would be on the phone ordering Parvoguard to be shipped overnight. they have a website www.parvoguard.com. i did save puppies who contracted parvo by just force feedings pedialyte every hour around the clock, but they were great danes.

a puppy with parvo will not eat or drink and they hide - they act like the water is gasoline and steaks are poison.

i just talked to a vet tech and she said the ELISA test wasn't accurate after the puppy is given a vaccine, but she felt that the dog could have parvo and this usually occurs 5 - 12 days after the injection.

My vet had me give 1/4 of a baby asprin to my pup...it helped him imensly with the pain and I also gave him benydryl prior to any vaccines (this heloed him from any immediate reaction). This was a HUGE help for my little one getting over the vaccines fast. (with pain and alergic reactions that happen immediatly after)...talk to your vet to see if this may help your little one! good luck.
