| Prolonged pupil dilation using atropine My love-muffin, Spencer, had an ulcerated cornea. Vet gave antibiotic opthalmic ointment to use 3 times daily for 14 days, and atropine opthalmic ointment to use 2 times daily for 2 days. Atropine was to dilate eye so that he would not feel pain or spasms. Rechecked in 7 days, and ulcer is healed. However, his eye is STILL dilated after 10 days. Called vet three times. Very concerned. Vet saw no other damage. Vet conferred with another doc, who says he has seen dilation in small dogs for up to 14 days. We will recheck early next week, more complete exam, and are willing to see a specilaist. Has anyone else experienced this prolonged pupil dilation???? Please get back to me. Thanks so much. |

| Hmm, do you think maybe a third opinion may help? Is Spencer still able to see and function normally? Hopefully, it'll clear up in a few days. If they perhaps used too much of the antibiotic ointment on a Yorkie, then the pupils will be dilated longer than "normal." Hope Spencer gets back to his normal self soon! |
