TashasMom. I think you're worrying too much. I would just feed your little girl all the good food she'll eat for the next few weeks. And, I'm sure it's important that she gets a lot of liquids also. I'd give her a couple of Tums a day (my dog loves them).....and if the puppys are healthy and growing and your little mother appears happy and well - I'd just sit back and enjoy all of them. I know the one dog that I had that had pups and a couple cats that I had that had kittens - got thin while nursing (and believe me, they all looked like they needed a trip to the groomers) - but they all did just fine. Enjoy your puppies - they grow too fast!!!! Good luck! Carol Jean |
I think she will be fine too. I was really worried at first and i'm still a little uneasy but I do feel she is fine. I honestly don't think my vet would of sent me home with her being on her death bed (which she wasn't) but I also know it could of gotten serious. As of know she is acting fine. She has energy, her gums are pink, she isn't dehydrated, she has a good strong pulse, no fever, no sign of infection. Don't get me wrong I know that things can go wrong at the drop of a hat so i'm keeping a close eye on her. She is eating what I fix for her good but I wish she would eat the food that is high in calcium better. I can't get her to eat as much as that stuff but she is eating it. Course I could be wanting her to eat as much as a saint bernard would when she's probably eating what she should be eating lol.. The puppies are gaining weight still and all are doing good. It helps having someone tell me to relax that all is fine..sometimes thats what we need to hear so thank you.. |
calcuim depleted Your lucky you caught it in time, My poor Nina scared the heck out of me I put her in her car seat and off to the vet last week Nina started a Jerking movement in her legs like seizers, the vet told me because she had 6 puppies.. (which are very healthy ) they did blood tests and i showed her calcium was down by 2 degrees and if I would not have brought her in I would have lost her....... I have kept her on beniful for puppies with Calcium since I changed from science diet because of the scare, plus she doesnt like adult dog food. the vet has a yorky also and she said that I should give her human Calcium pills I get her to eat them buy cutting them small and putting them in hotdogs and steak I started the egg yesterday also. I hope you lil one is okay.. Dionna Kay AKA lilmamma |
