| Chloe’s Dental - I want to cancel Hey all. I’m supposed to bring Chloe in for dental work on the 20th but I’m this close to canceling the appointment. The vet told me at her last appointment that it looked like a lot of teeth will have to come out, which was about 3 months ago (which is also when I made the appointment for the 20th and had her blood work done). I’m worried about her not being happy and eating afterwards. She’s the pickiest dog ever. She’s never once eaten wet food, won’t even try it. The only treats she’ll eat are her mini hard milk bones, again won’t even try soft treats. I’ve finally found a kibble that she’ll actually eat once a day which is huge for her because with other kibble she’d go days without eating if she didn’t like it anymore. She won’t eat it if I’ve softened the food a little either. What would you do in my position? |

| If this is her first dental, I have a feeling she is going to lose a lot of teeth. She is what, 11 now? I have a tiny one like her and he lost all of his teeth by the time he was nine....he is now 13. He eats mostly canned food but amazingly does like kibble. He cannot chew of course, but he swallows it. They are all different...I have had many pups who did not chew kibble.....choosing to just swallow it. There are SO many health issues that pups can have due to periodontal disease. Skipping out on dentals is risky. Info for you: Veterinary Periodontal Disease Consequences

| The teeth that need to come out not only are probably hurting her but leaving them could cause infections and issues with her kidneys and heart. Leaving them will just make the problem worse. They are fine and adjust and feel better even if they have no teeth. I have a 6 year old who lost 5 and a 5 year old who lost 11 and both chew and eat fine and I could tell they felt sooo much better after they healed.
