Donating YT 30K Club Member | I just picked Cali up from the vets. She is doing fine now! They do not know for sure what caused it. They do not think it was anything she got into as no symptoms of toxicoligy. I do have to get her tested for Liver shunt even though her blood ammonia test last night was fine. She has this green bandage on her leg. Poor baby! Thank you so much for all your prayers and concern, YT prayers work!!! I was so scared and still am since we don't know what happened. Does this sound like Liver shynt to any one with experience with it? Thanks again.

| Oh Patti, I'm so sorry to hear about your rough night, and I'm glad Cali is doing better today. My friend's Cavalier has liver shunt, and has been living with it for several months now without symptoms since they changed her diet and put her on medicine. I know that her symptoms that originally got her to the ER were spitting up and lethargy. She is also really small since it has stunted her growth. They're (friend and doggie) coming over tonight, so I'll ask more questions for you. Anything in particular you want me to ask her?

| I am so thankful Cali is home with you now and doing better. I don't have any personal experience with Liver Shunt, so sorry I cannot offer any help in this area. Hugs and Kisses sent Cali's way.

| My daughter's little Buddha had a neurological incident in October when he was a year old. He couldn't walk right, he fell over and his head looked like a bobble doll. I did research on livershunt then and discovered that he did not really fit the profile since it is usually a dog who doesn't eat well, isn't thriving and is quiet. Buddha loves to eat, was thriving and is very active. We did have him tested just to be safe and the test came back not indicating livershunt. I hope that Cali has no more episodes and that she is fine from here on. We never found out what happened w/Buddha but I also always suspected thst maybe he picked up a pill or something that was dropped on the floor by a roommate or something. I know how scared you were and are. Hang in there. She will be okay. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thank you so much! I justr looked at the sight you gave me and cali doesn't have the classic symptoms but I am going to get her tested. I took off her bandage which was soaked with blood and they shaved most of her leg and it's full of dried blood. How should I go about getting the blood off. I don't want to hurt her or start it bleeding again. ALso she has been sleeping all afternoon except when I woke her to feed her. She did eat again. I don't think I have ever had a dog this sick and not know what is wrong with her, I am still very worried.

About the dry blood, I would try cleaning it with warm water and tearless puppy shampoo since its very gentle. Also a soft towel and gentley.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks I don't think I have ever had to wipe so much dried blood off anything. My husband will freak when he see's it, he can't stand to see any of our pets sick or hurt so he is no help!
