| Hematoma - ruptured blood vessel Strange situation. Everything normal last night before bed - small snack - water and went potty (paper trained). Asleep with us late at midnight in our bed. At 2:00am Brinkley sits up having trouble breathing - throat swollen. Went to emergency - tests run, on oxygen, IV, x-rays, having an ultrasound and a plasma transfusion to help clotting from ruptured blood vessels. Heartbroken and no answers yet as to cause. No trauma involved. Any ideas? He is only 7 yrs old. |

| I'm so sorry to hear this, I also cannot offer advise. We do have a member that may possibly have ran into something like this as she fosters dogs. Hopefully she will see your post and "may" have advise, suggestion. I will pray for your lil baby. Please keep us updated (((hugs)))

| Thank you all! He is resting overnight - still in an oxygen cage device. Appears like perhaps a hemotoma formed under his tongue and caused bruising and swelling on the outside of his throat as well. Hopefully, some decrease in swelling by morning. Love little Brinkley! Any thoughts are appreciated. |

| Any chance any one in the home is taking blood thinner and he somehow found one on the couch, bed, floor and ate it? It sounds like somehow he got into an anti-coagulant of some type. What does the vet thinks caused it? Or has he had a tooth pulled or anything like that recently? This is so scary. Does the vet say he is out of danger? Sending prayers his way. Please keep us updated and give the little guy hugs from us when you can.

| So sorry to see this. Hope that the reason for the situation becomes clear and can be treated, and that he soon is fully recovered. Please keep us posted. (((hugs)))

| Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! Brinkley is almost completely better and back to his old self - we are blessed!!! NO explanation - complete mystery as to cause. 4 different medications over a week with rest and our love at home has healed him. We were SO worried - he is our life in so many ways! We remain cautious against any relapse, but are optimistic. |

| Amen, that is wonderful news! Great vet care and caregiver care! Brinkley, you are one blessed dog to have a wonderful guardian/doglover/owner and vet but you fought through this! You are one tough little cookie. Happy Rest Of Your Life, baby boy!
