| can't get a diagnosis Hello, My Tedy was tested for Addisons disease after having bouts of not eating, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea and drinking tons of water. It came back negative. He has has a complete blood panel done, urinalysis, x ray and ultra sound. No significant abnormalities found. I have always worried about his kidneys but the vet said his blood work shows his kidneys are fine. Had a repeat urinalysis done and the only thing showing up now is low specific gravity. I guess I should see a specialist? He is drinking so much water! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If he is drinking a ton of water - then I would do the (complicated) diabetes insipidus test.

| Sorry I don't know what I would do but I'm so sorry. Sounds like maybe you should get a second opinion from another vet. How attached are you to this vet? Has he/she been helpful & thorough in the past? |

| Have you received a definitive diagnosis? Have you received a definitive diagnosis? Like someone mentioned diabetes would be a concern, but your vet would probably pick up on that quickly. I would also worry about Cushing's disease, but the part that doesn't fit is the lack of appetite. Cushing's usually causes an increase in appetite and noticeable weight gain in a short period. You can also see low thyroid levels, causes loss of muscle tone so the potbelly appearance. It is usually diagnosed around 9 or 10 years old. The low gravity urine test would fit, but that is just because of drinking large amounts of water. Here's a link for you to review. | Tedy Sorry to hear that poor Tedy is not feeling well. How is he doing now? If the usual tests do not indicate a diagnosis, have you thought of getting a pancreatitis test and perhaps the SDMA kidney test, that shows up kidney function efficiency before the usual tests. I say this as some time ago my poor girl suddenly got very sick and passed from kidney failure together with pancreatitis, which earlier tests did not indicate Please update us on how he is and if you did get a diagnosis that enabled him to be treated Last edited by dottiesyrky; 05-20-2017 at 11:54 AM. |
