| Seizures have returned Some of you may remember my post in the pictures section with "Freddie", well about a week after having him we decided Harry suited him better anyway on with the story. About a week or 2 after we got him he had accidentally been trapped in the bathroom and was lying on our laundry I looked for him and when i found him he was stiff, frothing and shaking. We took him to the vet and he had a seizure whilst the vet was talking to us he had his fifth one. They kept him in the emergency room all day and at night, when we picked him up they told us to take him to a place called cvets an overnight animal hospital. They overall kept him for 2 days and 1 afternoon, and my jack russell was so happy to see him. A couple of days ago he had another one but doesn't seem as bad and that was his only one. They will be keeping him in the emergency room of the day vet for the morning on monday I'm so worried for him. Another thing is he's being having digestion problems he hasn't been eating which is the opposite of him normally. He's also been acting lethargic as well as his intestines making gurgling noises that I can hear when I'm in another room. This was kinda just a vent although if you have any advice I would like to hear it. |

| Sorry your pup is having these problems. They seem terrifying! Sorry I can't offer any help, just some moral support. Good thoughts for you all, Marcy

| So sorry you are all going through this! I hope they find out ASAP what and why this is happening. I have no experience with the symptoms you're describing but wish the very best for you all.

| I am so sorry, I know it is hard when our fur babies are ill. Has the vet any idea why he is have seizures? Is he on any medication to prevent the seizures? I don't know much except there are many causes for seizures. I pray you find the cause and it is a easy cure.

| Update Thank you for your support and kind words, he came back on monday afternoon and his blood tests indicated a liver shunt so they would do scans on the liver. Today they did the scans and they came back inconclusive so we have to take him to get a more advanced scan. Because they are a small vets they do not have the right equipment for a advanced scan so we have to take him to a bigger vet about a hour's drive away. If the scan is still inconclusive he will have to have a even more advanced scan which neither vets can do either so we will have to take him to Bristol that's 4 hours from us, he will also have to go there if the surgery is too advanced for either vet. I am not looking forward to potentially having to have him on a train for 8 hours in a crate nor the price it would cost but if that's what my he needs I will do it. Thanks again, Nate and Harry |

| My girl had an elevated liver enzyme in two of her blood tests- I was really worried she might have liver issues (I am grateful to say she must've gotten into something because her bloodwork has been consistently normal for some time) while I was working myself into a tissy trying to figure out different routes my vets reccomendation if her bloodwork didn't calm down within thirty days on a nutricutical was ultrasound or an actual liver biopsy- are either of those reasonable options? So sorry to hear about your sweet Harry

| How old is this boy ? you said in an earlier post that his blood work came back normal, what was he tested for ? I mentioned in my 1st post about Chiari because often pups with Chiari have liver shunt symptoms & can also often have elevated liver enzymes that return to normal once treatment is started. What are ALL of his symptoms ? Keep a log of each symptom you see, even if you feel he's doing something out of the norm but would not consider it a symptom. Write it ALL down no matter how big or small you feel it is. Also , have you contacted the breeder of this little guy ? if not then you need to ASAP. Prayers for you both. I sure hope things come back normal and your little sweet pea doesn't have it. Chewie also had elevated liver readings- and we had to do a gauntlet of tests and meds for a month for her. She's fine now. I hope that is the same result for you. | |
