What kind of symptoms does she have? I can imagine that it is difficult to isolate with everything she has going on. When Max and Teddy were injured, they were reluctant to turn their heads in one direction. The vet and I could also feel the spasm of the muscle from the pain. Max wanted to lie down straight with his head straight too. They were a little reluctant to bend to eat, but not as much as a dog with a disc problem, for instance. I think it came from whipping their heads around. Teddy's happened while wrestling. I didn't witness when Max's happened, but he is really hard on his neck -- I had to take away his bed underneath my chair because of the way he was bending his neck. Max took about 3 - 4 days to fully recover. He has had a couple of recurrences and bounced back faster. Maybe with Remy's head tilt (if she is still doing that) she has put more strain on her neck/shoulders?

| Shinja, I am so sorry that you and your family have been going through so much. Your Remi is so precious and loved. Your love and dedication to her are truly admirable. I am praying for all of you. I hope it goes well with Remi's neurolgist.

| Thank you for your concern. It may be a bit of a gut feeling but she is what I call "flat lining" mean she can hardy walk, she is not wagging her tail, lays in bed and doesn't really respond. I did talk to two friends who also have had experience with this. Remy's meds have been changed ... on the 21st she went from 1/2 prednisone 2x daily to 1/4 2x daily and on Thursday it was reduced to 1/4 1x daily. My thoughts is a contamination of hurting her front leg ( It is my fault I picked her up by her harness and she yelped)and the reduction of meds. I could not get through to Dr. Wong yesterday so I made the decision to go back to 1/4 2x daily until I speak to him. This morning she is better.... no 100% but so much better.

I think... know ... I caused the muscle pull. Thank goodness she does not have the head tilt that is part of encephalitis symptoms any more. I picked Remy up by her harness and she yelped. I though maybe I pulled her hair but after that she would yelp when I pick her up with my hands. My dh and I have been careful to use two hands to support her after that. She is pulling that leg up and not wanting to put weight on it. If one of the other dogs bump her in bed she yelps. The vet said if could be a nerve pinch or muscle pull.... Bailey has had injuries like your boys... he even hurt one of the disk in his back. All injury of our babies are scary and frightening. I had to sleep downstairs with him for several days and take away his favorite toy because he would shakes his head so when playing with it. He is a real killer lol. Remy just has not been herself for about a week... it could be the pain from her leg or more... but after talking to a couple of other friends I truly think it could be the reduction in her meds and combination of the pain from her front leg. The decline in her behavior and the timing of the reduction of meds are tooooo coincidental. I didnt see that at first... Thank you for all your advise... that is one of the great things about this site we help each other. I appreciate all of you.

| I am very happy to hear Remy is better this morning. Praying that it is just a matter of time to recover fully from the pain in her leg. Quote:

| good days and bad days... night seams to be the most difficult. Have talked to both vets and crate rest is what we have to do, and go back to 1/4 2x day of meds. Thank you for the concern

I am not too sure.. the one vet said if it was a nerve pinch it would take a month or longer. A muscle should be about two weeks. She is a bit better... but she has moments that are quite bad-- she shows signs of pain and pulls her leg up. It is almost like a cycle, but for a bit shorter time and a little farther apart. Night is the worst. Each spell is like a stab to my heart... I am hoping this two will pass.

My sissy has enchipilitis also and when she is slipping night time is bad for her also... She has been great for 4 months and recently had a set back(wondering aimlessly, rubbing her head and walking sideways).. We had lowered her dose and I think it caught up with her.We had to take her in for a "mega dose" and she snapped back with in a few hours..She is on dexamthesone 1/4 pill twice a day..We had her all the way down to 1/4 every other day..Prayers your baby feels better.. | |
