JennaPenny, one thing you might point out to your husband is that if a problem is found with the ultrasound, Chewie will most likely be referred out to a specialist anyway, as your regular vet is probably not qualified to treat it. The specialist is going to want a high grade ultrasound anyway, so you end up paying for two. If nothing is found on the ultrasound, you'll probably end up being referred out anyway to try to isolate the problem, and the specialist is going to want a high grade ultrasound, so you still end up paying for two.

I do get it. I've had my regular vet do an ultrasound a few times. But both times I ended up having to go to the specialty hospital for a second ultrasound anyway, so I ended up paying for two.

Good point! I have had that happen with xrays as well. If I know the end result will most likely be a specialist I just go there from the start. My vet actually is on board with this and does not hesitate to refer out.
