| Yeast in ears My boy has another ear infection. This is the third one in a little over a year. They clear up pretty quickly and he is already feeling better after just two days on the drops, but I sure would like to figure out what's causing them or a way to prevent them. I can't really change his diet because he has IBD and is finally stable. He is raw fed, no grains. I do clean and flush his ears once or twice weekly and have been using Epi-Otic but just switched to TrizUltra + Keto Flush because it also contains an anti-fungal. His vet is hoping that will help. In addition to him feeling miserable, I have spent at least $700 this year on his ear infections, so I sure would like to get a handle on it somehow. Any thoughts? Diana |

| Ugh, I feel your pain. I have been having the same problem with Sophie. I try to be sure I keep her ear hairs plucked to let as much air circulate as possible.

| I have had a lot of luck using Dr. Golds Ear Therapy. If I use it consistently after the meds have done their work I am able to keep Ziva's ears clear. Abby can't stand it (rather strong herbal smell) but Ziva sits nicely while I swab her ears a few times a week and always after baths or swimming. |

| Hi Diana, Bentley gets yeast infections in his left ear periodically. He also has IBD/IBS. He gets his ears plucked once a month by the groomer. I brush him every morning and when I see the tell tale sign of yeast infection I start him on Gentizol I have on hand from the vet. He gets 5 drops once a day for 5 -7 days and it clears up without visiting my vet. Hope your boy gets better soon (oh and Bentley is on Prescription Science Diet Z/D)

| I am a big fan of biogroom ear cleaner. I use it after every bath. I haven't had any ear infections here since using it. Once this infection clears you could try it. Usually ear infections are due to food allergies, or at least this is what I've heard. You might have to change the diet to a hydrolyzed food.

| Hi 107Barney. I think I would rather deal with the yeasty ear infections than flares of his IBD, so I am not comfortable changing up his food. Is the biogroom ear cleaner you mentioned something you get from your vet? We were using epi-otic before but our vet had me switch to something called TrizUltra+Keto. It is an anti-fungal flush to help with the yeast. Honestly it could be allergies for all I know. He's a rescue, and this is our 2nd spring with him. He had a very bad ear infection last spring too. I wonder if an allergy medication would help? Diana |
