Wishing Charlie a full recovery and his furever home ASAP!!!!! Ladyjane I don't know how you do it to constantly see these babies in such horrible conditions but Thank God you are there! Seriously I would be crying my eyes out all the time and unable to cope. You are v e r y special to help these little angels every day, year after year. I'm sure they appreciate your kindness and generosity. Gentle hugs for Charlie. |
4 Attachment(s) I am so happy to report that Charlie is beginning to show improvement! Seeing him looking better today really made my week! His IV's have been discontinued and his blood sugar is stable. Surgery will be checking on him tomorrow...the hope is that the drain will be removed. His surgery site looks to be healing well. He does still have a feeding tube, but he is starting to eat a little bit with some coaxing. We fed him chicken baby food today and he ate all of it...mostly off of lolasmom1211 and lolassister's fingers! They are always there for our Houston pups! He is more steady on his feet now! They are looking at a possible discharge on Friday. He will more than likely be discharged with the feeding tube in...and if he eats well over that weekend, it may be removed the following Monday. I am SO relieved he has survived this horrible ordeal. We can now give Charlie the love he has always deserved. So glad to hear he's doing so well now. |
That is wonderful news! Such a strong little fighter! I pray he eventually goes to a home where he is king of the castle! He certainly deserves it! I don't understand people and how these situations happens and happens so frequently, it's disheartening- God bless you for what you do, the stories you must have... |
poor little guy, this is horrible, thank you for people like you and others, sending prayers |
Morning Update! Charlie's feeding tube got clogged during the night, so they pulled it and plan to leave it out for the day. He is eating fairly well. His blood sugar remains stable! The drain in his surgery site was removed last night and everything looks great! The plan is to monitor him today and, if he continues to eat, they will not be placing another feeding tube. He should be discharged tomorrow!!! |
omigosh what a heart wrenching first post!! I was in tears reading it for the first time today and was feeling so tense reading each post and hoping things would get better. I'm sooooooooo glad to hear that little Charlie is recovering and doing well now! Thank God!!! I can't imagine what he had gone through. It's so sickening and incredibly sad. What he had to endure to escape  But what a fighter! Bless his little soul for making it through. I'm so happy for him and ladyjane and the rescue. Such heros! So glad this was a happy ending! 4 Attachment(s) OK...so during his hospitalization the vets and the techs kept telling us that Charlie kept barking at the corner of his kennel. This morning they actually gave him something to calm him down and mentioned that they thought he might have some issues with dementia. The days I visited with him he was fine to me...and while he was a bit dull he was on a lot of meds and that didn't seem abnormal. Today when Valerie picked him up the vet told her if he kept barking to call and she would give her and RX for him. So...she took him to her house (she is fostering for the weekend and then he goes to his foster home) and he was barking up a storm. I told her he was probably just wanting to be held. She had to go out so she left a camera on and the whole time she was out he kept barking. When she got home she took him out of the X-pen she had set up for him....Voila! That was the problem...as soon as he was free to wander he was fine! No more barking!! He is eating well and goes from one bed to the other in her home. Bless his little heart, he probably has never seen so many clean dog beds. Some pics she sent to me: Attachment 409028 Attachment 409029 Attachment 409030 Attachment 409031 |
