Those pictures break my heart, I am so sorry for that little guy, no dog should be in that much pain and discomfort. I am so sad for him but so happy that he is in your care and getting the help he needs. I will be hoping and praying that he will eat and is able to recover from the rest of his issues. Poor little guy, I just want to hug him. |
This breaks my heart for little Charlie! That is just pitiful! Prayers going up for Charlie for full recovery and a very happy home! Prayers and blessings to you and all that make up your team helping and loving these babies! |
Sending TONS of love and hope to our little Mr. Charlie - come on 'lil buddy, stay strong - bc you're on the way to the GOOD LIFE !!!! |
I hope that Charlie is doing better today. We appreciate all you do and that you keep us updated. Gentle hugs for Charlie~ |
Try chicken baby food Linda....mine will eat/lick that off my finger when they wont eat anything else....his little mouth wont have to work so hard to chew up baby food and his system will be able to digest it easier..... |

I too think it's awesome for them to have visitors and I think it helps with their healing process. Charlie is added to the prayer list in this house. Looking forward to reading some happy updates on him. ((HUGS)) hang in there! |
Thank goodness for YORKIE HAVEN to the rescue! Prayers for Charlie! Ladyjane thank you for keeping us up to date on his saga. Can imagine who would do that to a pup -- looks like at one point he was dragged. |
4 Attachment(s) Thank you to all of you for your kind words.... I went to see Charlie today. I am copying below what I posted about him on Facebook ... Charlie is hanging in. While he is improving, he is not nearly well enough to be out of the ICU. He is getting 50% of needed nutrition through his NG tube and they are encouraging him to eat. He ate about 1/3 of what was offered this morning. On our visit, he took a few bites of vanilla flavored yogurt, but he was not overly excited about much of anything. It could be a number of things that are affecting his mentation (he is a bit dull). It could be a result of the Fentanyl which was discontinued this morning and he is now on Tramadol or could be he has some other underlying issue we are not aware of....he also had a very low blood sugar for some time in the shelter. Time will tell ... maybe by tomorrow after being off of the Fentanyl for 24 hours he will be a bit brighter. His wounds are healing and the drain in the surgical site is showing less drainage now. He can walk around, but slowly and he stumbles a lot...again we just don't know why. Time will tell us more. We took a couple of toys to him and when we squeaked one of them, he did walk over to it. He also reacted to his vet specialist's voice. A couple of times when she walked into the room he perked up and turned towards her when he heard her voice! Thinking about the "human" that did this to that precious little soul, stirs up a hatred in my soul that my God is not happy with.....one of those things I need to work on, I guess.....he looks like he is slowly improving, and I am prayerful that once the Fentynl is dc'd, he will shake those cobwebs loose in a day or so.....so doctor gave me that drug a long time ago for severe ear infection and lancing my eardrum, inserting a wick to drain my inner ear.....it almost KILLED me!! The dose he prescribed knocked me flat on my back for 3 days....momma thought the doctor had killed me!! So hopefully if the Fentanyl is stopped, after a day or so, he will get sharper! |
Charlie Thank you for the update on the poor baby. It must break your heart to see him looking so sad and sick, as it does ours. At least he can stand up and is getting some nutrition. I know you are more familiar with seeing such ill treated dogs in your rescue, but it is so hard to imagine how any human can do this to a poor innocent animal. Thank goodness you found him and are caring for him. Praying so hard that the brave little soul gets over all this and is able to experience the love and care he deserves for the rest of his life. Thinking of you little Charlie, and get well soon. |
If this is from a dog attack, it could be that he has a pinched nerve causing the stumbling. If it were a large dog then he was probably shaken severely & when little dogs live through that, they often have neck/shoulder issues from the shaking. He may not be responding well from depression from missing his people. God, this just makes my heart hurt. He just needs a billion hugs & kisses to give him the will to keep on going. What about some stinky ol broccoli mixed with some chicken baby food. All of mine will do anything for broccoli. Steam it & stick it in a zip lock bag to seal in that stinky smell so when you get to the vets office you can open the bag rite in front of him & then mix it with the baby food & just maybe he'll eat it. |
Oh this precious little one! Such an angel to fight so hard like this. Sending him ALL our love, kisses, and hopes! I have a suggestion for something to try for food - it can really work for super bad appetite issues for some kiddos. Go to the toddler food section in the grocery store, and buy those little mini-hot dogs that come in a glass jar - try those. I know they're not ideal, per se, but seriously...if they can help stimulate his appetite, who cares ya know? They're quite mild bc they're for kids, but are *very* tasty to doggies. |
Bless this little guy's heart. What horror he must have experienced. I pray that he continues to improve. |
Been following little Charlie on YHR. Sending lots of prayers and love for the little man! What a sweet baby boy. |
Glad he seems to be making improvements. I've been following this on FB. Poor little guy. He's been through so much. |
