| My baby Rocky only seems to itch when it starts getting cold out. Any recommendations? |

| Yes only when it starts getting cold. Same thing last year. I bought Oatmeal Medicated Spray for Dogs for moderate to severe skin conditions (itching, dandruff, allergies, etc) but reading the threads that does not seem to help. I have only been using for a few days. |

| my 11 pound Chihuahua Tootsie has been on Apoquel for around a year and it helps her a lot . she only still itches a tiny bit, but not bad at all .. she's now a happy dog instead of a miserable itchy dog

| Yorkie Yakker | It's now been a week that he's been on Apoquel. His eye lids are back to normal color, they were quite pink before! He's still occasionally scratching or licking but huge improvement the sore spot at his eyebrow has healed and he seems more comfortable in general. I'm so relieved it's helping I just hope it doesn't cause any serious side effects. I'd be just sick if it does. I'm giving regular baths and rinsing very very well. And he's my cuddly happy camper |

| My guy was itching and chewing like crazy. He was getting regular injections at the vet, steriod tablets, Benadryl etc. I switched him to a raw diet about 5 months ago. No more itching or medicines. He loves it, his coat is shiny for the first time ever and he's even put on a little weight. I'm not saying it will work for your dog's itching but it seems to have cured mine. He hasn't been to the vet since March when he had his last dental. |

| Yorkie Yakker | Snick has been on Apoquel for around a month itching dramatically decreased until he went to once a day. Now he itches but not as bad as he did before Apoquel and I don't want to go with vets suggestion of giving him a heavier dose. Vet mentioned if this happened since he's on higher end of weight for his dose it might need to be increased. Uh since the company has stated dogs with reactions were over medicated I don't think a vet playing with increasing a dose is a great plan! He still falls in the weight for dose as given by the makers of Apoquel. He's not itching to point of making his skin red or causing sores... So I think we will just go with it. But their so called "miracle drug"? I wouldn't call it that improved itching sure but miracle? |

| I would rethink the dosage and discuss it more thoroughly with your vet. To increase a bit when he is at the upper end of the range in weight does not seem "that" out of line to me. I don't think a small increase would be overmedicating...but I could be dead wrong. BUT, I probably would go to a dermatologist before doing that....

| Yorkie Yakker | His idea of increasing isn't a bit tho... It's doubling the dose unless I misunderstood him but I don't think it's bumping the mg slightly and that to me is concerning since he is still in the manufacturers weight range for his current dose. |

| I am definitely going to ask my vet about this medication when I speak to him. My dogs have mild to moderate environmental allergies. I think we are getting the food allergies taken care of. My vet is very conservative and wants to try all the natural remedies before giving him medications. Right now they are on a lot of natural supplements and OTC antihistamines and supplementing that with the occasional Temporal P. Like others have said my vet does not want them on Temporal P long term because of the Cortisone. |
