| Macy Hi, guys. I posted a month ago when my Macy Girl was ill and was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. She was given lasix, enalapril, and vetedmin prior to being diagnosed. She is now only taking butorphanol for her collapsed trachea along with vetedmin and sildenafil for pulmonary hypertension. She is doing much better, but she has episodes from time to time where she coughs and retches with nothing coming out. I am deaf, so I can't tell if it is a cough or not. When she does that, should she have cough medicine? Please help. I want to make sure that she is getting all the medicines she should get to make her healthy. Thank you.

| I'm sorry Macy has some medical issues, but I've heart wonderful things about Vetmedin. It helped my dear friend's King Charles Cavalier Spanilel, who had CHF, a great deal. It gave her almost two years when her cardiologist thought she'd live just a few months. My vet uses Butorphanol for pain after surgery, so I have a little experience with it. I also have experience with collapsed trachea with two of my Rainbow Bridge babies. There is a dry cough associated with collapsed tracheal, and Butorphanol is used as a cough suppressant. I would doubt that she needs another cough medicine. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Macy. Butorphanol For Animals - Alleviate Cough and Sedation Medication

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Glad to hear she is doing much better now . As for the cough, is there any chance it could be from reflux: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...wallowing.html
