| How much Pepcid? Sophie was diagnosed with pancreatitis a few months ago. She was put on a low fat prescription dog food and is doing well, except she has to be fed every couple of hours or she throws up bile. I have read that they can have Pepcid but I don't know how much. Any help would be appreciated.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Poor little thing, you probably should check with you vet just in case, these questions can be handled over the phone. Pepcid comes in two strengths that I know, 20mg of Famotidine, or 10mg. We get the 10 mg and break it into 4ths for a 5 pound yorkie. I suggest going by the doctor just because of the pancreatitis, I think he's still want you to feed frequent meals, it's easier on the stomach.

| Zoey takes Pepcid too. I cut the pills into fourths. I was giving her 1/4 with a small meal at night but the vet said to increase it to twice per day - 1/4 with breakfast and 1/4 at night.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yes, we should clarify -- good idea! For Arthur, he actually gets 1/4 of a 20mg pill. For Marcel, he used to get 1/4 of a 10mg pill. Here is more info on Pepcid and doses in case anyone needs it...basically the dose range is btwn .25-.5 per pound of body weight, once or twice a day depending upon severity: Pepcid for Dogs
