| ![]() I am relieved to hear that Simon is doing well. So sorry for all you had to go through with the questionable vet, and good for you for following up with reporting them. I am curious too, who determined your momma need a c-section and why? (sorry if you already said, I may have missed it). I'm praying that Simon will thrive, after all you have gone through.

| ![]() Sorry I have not put in any input int he last day. I am very very tired. Simon is a small single puppy and his temperature regulation is quiet sensitive. Then that throws off eating and hydration. I am literally mostly NOT sleeping. Kirby has put some restrictions on me in terms of what she will accept for accommodations for Simon and herself. Everytime I try to make it better she will not get in and lay with Simon. As soon as I get it to her specifications she will jump in! Ugh. She wants me RIGHT there. She wants to be able to see me...she is looking for comfort. So I have her in a little bed in the corner of my sectional and I have the corner blocked off with an ottoman. Basically a dog fort in my living room. I sleep on the sofa. My head is mostly abt a foot away. As Simon can not regulate his temperature and has no liter mates to bundle up.. the situation is difficult. I have read that up to 50% of all singletons do not make it. When Kirby leaves him to eat or conduct business it is very easy for him to get chilled. That could bring on a spiral. Therefore everytime she moves away from him I make sure he does not get chilled. Here is the good news. She is a barometer of his health! I watch her and I know how well he is doing. If he starts to teeter with his delicate balance she leaves the bed and lays a few feet away. Then I go into action. Is he warm enough? Is he too warm? Is he hydrated? Will he eat? Pretty much those four things. I do not think he has been dehydrated but I think Kirby might not have tons of milk thanks to the weekend. He works her over and wasn't gaining as much as I thought he should. I started using the supplement recipe from this thread and I am very happy with it. She has been a bit difficult to get to eat more also however she really loves the formula mixture. That I started yesterday and it is helping. I am tired. The balance is fragile. Kirby is my barometer. Simon did gain a little weight. Looking forward to more. I still do not think it is enough but we have been through a ton. I am reading reading reading. Learning. Dedicated. I think the choice of a c-section for Kirby is questionable but I have spoken to a few vets and it is a conservative choice. A large number of single pups are delivered by c-section for multiple reasons. It is not a choice they all would have made. I did speak to the vet hospital owner. He did not know the story and as he listened he tried to assure me that knowing the two women he felt their hearts were where they were trying to save him. Save him from me because they 'did not know me' starting within 13 hours after Simon was born before he ever came home from his birth? He did use the word overzealous. He said he was very concerned if the things I said wee true. He wanted to talk to them. He was concerned they had drifted so far away from his standards of practice. He said in general he does not allow pets to be signed over to him except in rare exceptions and the exception he sited was the family had someone was fighting cancer and was unable to care for their dog so he took ownership and then found a home for the dog. He said he often hears from people who claim they will dedicate themselves to their pets well being and do follow through. Okay sure. Because some ppl act certain ways doesn't mean those ladies had any right and he agreed. He is going to speak to them and get back to me. I am not sure I accept his assumption but I think my assumption is bonkers too and can see how someone would want to believe otherwise. I myself really tried to look for a different motive. They had the vet who treated Simon and Kirby come in on her day off and complete his chart. The chart is ready to be picked up. My husband will pick it up tonight. It will be interesting if she documented the false claims on Simon's health. It depends on what he says in his return call as to what I am going to do. If I feel he handled his employees adaquetely I may not file a complaint. If he tries to justify and cover their bad behavior I WILL 100% file even if they doctored the paperwork. The state's vet board knows the paperwork was completed after my initial contact with them. I even expressed that they could alter the records. Interestingly he had my file and read EVERY visit I had ever made to the clinic in 14 years. There has NEVER been any instances of interpersonal drama. A few times I have not thought the deposable vets weren't super sharp but you know but usually it does not matter. You only need someone who is sharp when it is not a perfunctory visit. I'd think a prolonged business relationship would lend credibility to my side. I am very happy Kirby is my Simon health barometer. It's not like he is exhibiting anything but when I start figuring it out... like maybe is not quite warm enough... I get him warmer and she jumps back in. He is a single pup! Her behavior just makes me feel secure. Thanks guys! Sorry if I am rambling. I am loopy from lack of REM sleep. |

| ![]() So how is your mom and little one doing? Was this a scheduled C-section? It seems like a 4 oz. puppy could be delivered naturally by most. How big is the Mom? I have heard that one puppy may not produce enough hormones to start labor so it wouldn't really matter what size, but I still would think they would induce labor with oxytocin and at least give natural a try with a puppy that size unless mom was small. |

| ![]() It sounds as if the vet is inexperienced. I even think the idea of fostering the pup is a sign of her lack of confidence. I hope you can get some rest. And prayers that little Simon gets to a good stable condition soon and thrives! You are doing all you can. |

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I'm curious as to what the paperwork said when you got it back. Did they repeat their words or retract? I think someone there just really wanted that puppy and counted on you being easy to railroad into surrendering him.people are devious nowadays for sure. |
