Hopefully that will be the end of the vomiting good news |
Panacur Wow, what comforting news!! And he is eating too this morning, you must be so happy and relieved. I think the Panacur only has to be given for a few days, so perhaps it has done its job and the vet will ok stopping it. Praying that Couver has turned the corner and that he will be well again soon. Thanks for the update:-) |

It is wonderful that he didn't have any episodes of vomiting; but I remain concerned about the other things: 1. albumin on the low side 2. xray showing inflammed intestines Your vet is suggesting prednisone and that is not for vomiting, so I still believe there is another concern. The part about cancer....again, further diagnostic testing is really in order to get an accurate diagnosis. Cancer is always a rule out... |
I agree, I am happy to hear Couver's vomiting has stopped and he hasn't lost any more weight, and he is showing energy, but I would want a definitive diagnosis. Was a CBC done? I don't see that in the test results you posted. My knowledge is limited, but I would think a white blood cell count would be a good place to start to rule out cancer -- although a high count can also be a sign of infection. Keeping Couver and you in my thoughts. |
Linda, I discussed PLE with her and she agreed that it definitely was a possibility. We are going to retest his blood to check the protein levels to determine if they have gone any lower. This should help with a diagnosis of PLE. I agree that we should also have the scope done. Thanks for everything. Hopefully things continue the way they are and we can retest in 4 days and go from there. I'm just happy that my baby is not miserable. It's comforting knowing he's at least eased from the nausea and vomiting. |

It would be really awesome if his albumin ends up rising. In the end he could just have IBD without it being a PLE.... or NOTHING! Now, that would be the best outcome! |

I am happy that you are following up with this because I believe that catching PLE early is key in keeping them from becoming very ill. If he has it, I suspect it is fairly early in the game and you will be able to keep him healthy. Cookie is going strong now ... I thought I would not have Christmas 2011 with her and I have had 11, 12, 13 and 14! :) |
I haven't been around for a while and saw Couver's name and wanted to offer prayers and support for his recovery. I hope he gets a proper diagnosis and feels better soon. |
Thank you Karen! We are now going on 2 days with no vomiting and no accidents in the house. He is starting to act like his normal self. Yesterday he was begging for food, so his appetite is back. He's loving the gastro kibble mixed with wet. I've been crushing the metro his his food and adding water and he licks the bowl clean I'm so happy that he's feeling better. I was feeling pretty helpless before. I'm just hoping after all of this that we will have a diagnosis! |
