There is a lesson to be learned here from both the Op and anyone else reading when someone on here says go to the vet now this is an emergency it means now not 2 days from now or when you feel you can if your vet isnt open then you need to be going to an emergency vet not waiting untill your vet opens. This was an emergency and the people on here recognized it as such and gave the needed advice it was not followed and the pup died something people have seen on here before and the reason they gave the advice they did. I dont think this person needs advice on how to choose a breeder. They need to get their finances in order and priorities in order and learn how to take care of a pup the good and the bad. Then and only then should they consider getting another pup

No. No I don't think the OP knows. I think the OP, like many new owners had no clue as to how seriously dire the situation was.

I think they think it is just like themselves when they are ill, and that it's ok to have an upset tummy and be off your food for a day or two. I don't think most new owners know how life threatening it is in a young puppy. If they knew and were educated, they'd react appropriately. Now the OP knows. Hopefully that knowledge will be shared.

My ZoE was sick last year with liquid diarrhea late one evening. She's an almost 10lb yorkie and was a couple of years old. How quickly she went downhill scared the hell out of me. I was literally terrified that if I went to bed, I'd wake up to a dead dog in the morning. So I high tailed it to the ER vet hospital. Why? Because I understood the severity of the situation.

Hopefully other owners, read this thread and now understand why it's so important to act quickly. Because "when you know better, you do better."

I am most upset with the breeder as they KNEW they were giving a sick puppy to someone. He only had the dog for fourteen hours. I know the feeling I brought Buster home and found out he was very sick. I was lucky as he was not a ill as this poor puppy and I did take him to the Vet the next morning. After I learned a bit I went over Buster's paperwork and saw the medication that he had been given and Knew that they knew they had sold me a sick dog without any warning.

This

Even the best of breeders can send home a pup, that within 24-36hrs later is sick! The point is, puppy owners should educate themselves on distress signs in puppies. Well quite frankly distress signs in all dogs of any age.

The point here was not what *if* anything the breeder failed to do, or the pet shop wherever she got this puppy from. The point is - new owners need to educate themselves on how to care for a puppy. if you have the least bit of doubt or concern you can call your vet, or hey better yet go in on an emergency basis. The other more than moot point is, you go to a board and ask for advice, hey why not heed that advice when it is GET to a VET now.

Op if your puppy had parvo and you get another puppy and bring it into your home it is highly likely the new puppy will also get the parvo. I also would not get another from the breeder you got yours from because if one puppy was sick whether it's parvo or something else they all are more then likely going to be sick.

There are thousands of posts on here, "educating" people about how to buy a puppy....
Get a reputable breeder
Make sure you have a contract with a health guarantee
Read, Read, Read before you dash out and buy a pup for the first time
Do not buy from pet stores
Get educated so you can even recognize when you have a problem
If you have a pup that is vomiting, diarrhea, listless, GET TO A VET ASAP
Do NOT buy a Yorkie puppy before 12-14 weeks old
Vaccinations started before 8 weeks of age ARE USELESS
DO NOT BUY an unvaccinated, too young puppy
Be financially prepared to be able to care for a sick pup, or don't buy a dog!

..........and, in spite of all the "educating", all the harping, all the begging, all the preaching, all the chastising, all the posts, all the "hugs and kisses and pats on the back and warm and fuzzy, loving ooooohhhh's and aaahhhha's and "sooooooo sorry's", this irresponsible behavior continues. What actually compounds the tragedy of it all, people will start their post with, "I brought my 5 week old puppy home, and yes, I KNOW he is toooooo young so dont fuss at me......". People on this forum that have been here for years and years and years, and have seen this same behavior and scenerio played out over and over and over and over, get soooooo frustrated, so discouraged, so angry, so very saddened by the death of another poor baby, a death that could probably very likely have been prevented, so we react. We either can not take it any more and throw up our hands and leave, or out of unmitigated disgust with the continual, repetitive, totally uneducated and unprepared and irresponbsible actions of some owners, WE get angry and our own broken hearts just drown us out. Instead of some members on here appreciating and understanding and empathizing with OUR frustrations, OUR disbelief that this has happened again, they attact US for our grief and how we address it! Unbelievable!!! Our "repremands" are NOT "throwing salt in a wound".....these corrections are yet another attempt to AGAIN, put in writing, all the thousands of instructions, tips, hints, etc that have already been written about a thousand times. Nothing seems to work, nothing deters this negligent behavior. So, let the members that specialize in "warm and fuzzy" and see no fault in irresponsible behavior or refuse to call it what it is, pat and hug and kiss and comfort, and leave members that speak the truth, tell these owners what they did wrong and why they should have not gone down that path in the first place, trying to correct these tragic outcomes however THEY see appropriate, as long as no rules of this forum are broken.
This puppy did not have to suffer, untreated, wrapped in a towel and allowed to die. It does not take a rocket scientist to know when a baby is listless, vomiting, diarrhea, limp, etc it needs a vet or it will die. There are millions of vets open on Saturday mornings, and there are millions of emergency vets open from midnight Friday night until 7am Monday morning. This event is unexcusable!!! Be a responsible pet owner!! Do NOT just sit and watch your baby die! If you can not afford to go to a vet, dont get a pet......and if you do, then dont ask for help that you know you will not give.

The greeder/breeder failed this pup and so did you, how very sad that this poor pup didn't have a half a chance at life....how common sense evolved to wrapping the pup in a towel and holding him while he died instead of running to a vet...is absolutely dumbfounding and unacceptable lack of care.
