| ![]() I'm sure since the OP is in Mexico, procedures are different. I too would be wary of a referral that is "in the family". Interested to see what your regular vet has to say. Good luck and I'm so happy you took this little one in. If she really is overweight you can look into better foods or home cooking to improve her body score and to help her knee situation, whatever that may be.

| ![]() So sorry about not posting sooner, yesterday we were super tired. Iīts going to be a bit long so bare with me hehe. So finally my vet saw lil miss Ofelia, first of all she is not obese, she is a bit overweight but not even enough to be a concern, even by looking at her leg and touching it he could notice that the procedure she had made was not the right one for what she has, specially since her knee is already popped out. She has a terrible ear infection, she is beginning to show signs of cataracts, she has never had a vaccine in her life (this we found out from previous owners) her other knee is having issues too and she has some skin redness. He recommended we donīt do more of the rehabilitation and instead focus on giving her articulations protectors, its a shot every 6 months that helps her with her articulations and would be very beneficial in her case, she is being treated for the ear infection, she got a hair cut so her air is not so much on her ears, she is using a shampoo for her skin problems, and her food he said is fine just make sure we donīt increase and she doesnīt eat too many treats or junk (not a problem!) He also said, oh this breaks my heart....many of her leg issues are because she spent too much time of her life in a cage, so spoil her to death cause she has earned it, which oh believe me she is so spoiled lol At the right time he can perform the surgery and while he doesnīt think the other vet did a bad job, he thinks it was a very bad judgmente call to perform that sort of surgery without any background information and the technique he used is already failing on her knee. Other recommendations include, swimming so she starts using her knee and walking on grass, carpet or sand. Stitches are out, she had a big glob of glue from surgery stuck on her ankle and the guy that gave her a bath took his time to remove it slowly and carefully so it didnīt hurt, so cone is off except when I put some ointment on her leg so the rough skin gets softer. My little girl has gone trough so much but at least I feel happy that yesterday at my vets office she got love from everybody, they all treated her like a queen and cuddled her when she was in pain from the removing the stitches, and also my vet gave me special scissors to cut her little bands from her topknot so it doesnīt hurt her hair, isnīt he a sweetie? See thats why I love him. So thats the story, she has to go back in two weeks to see progress on her knee and ears, I have to give her a good ear cleaning every day and once she is on the clear we start we vaccines to keep her up to date. Thank you so much if you read everything and for being here for us, believe me your comments meant a lot to me!!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | ![]() Thanks for the update. In terms of swimming I am a huge believer in it, but just water walk her, until her ear infection clears up. You don't want water in the ear from swimming with an ear infection ongoing. I don't know of the protectorante you speak of for dogs joints, but hopefully it will work for your pup.
