Praying for your baby, as well as you....keep us updated as soon as you get a diagnosis.... |
Just saw this sending prayers for Mylee. |
Another update The vet opened her up and thinks she was able to dislodge the blockage by massaging her intestine without having to make a cut into the intestine. She said that was good news obviously with all the bacteria involved with having to open an intestine. She said it appears to be plant material. So how does she know that if she didn't open it? Maybe she also used a scope? Just curious I didn't think to ask when I had her on the phone. Uggg, she does eat a lot of grass. |
Oh no, so sorry! I thought I'd share my experience w/a blockage. When Momo was 7 months old, he ate a fruit from a queen palm tree & the seed along w/it. He was in the emergency specialty hospital for 7 days. They tried anti-nausea meds, colonoscopies bc they wanted to see if he can pass it on his own. No improvement, whatever he ate & drank, he threw it up & no bowel movement, obvious sign of a blockage. He was having diarrhea, but a few days later, nothing bc nothing was getting passed down to his bowels. On the 6th day, the vet felt the seed enlodged in the entrance of Momo's small intestine, so he went in & took it out. It was one the most darkest experience of my life, scarred us both for life.:( Maybe ask the vet if this is something Mylee can pass? Or will it get lodged in the small intestine? Hopefully it will break down & Mylee will be able to pass it! |
Sorry your poor baby had to have surgery, but it is good that the obstruction may be moved along without cutting into the gut. Perhaps the vet could tell the nature of the offending blockage by the feel if it? Praying that the massaging worked and that all is well now. Get well soon Mylee and come home soon. |

Oh wow Shelly, I just now saw your thread. Praying fervently that what ever it is that Mylee can pass it on her own. I know you are a basket case, I sure would be. Sweet baby girl has been through a lot. |
Sending more strong vibes your way! |
Oh my goodness...poor Mylee and poor you. I would be upset, too. I do hope she passes whatever it is without any further incidences. |
Praying Mylee's problems are over, and for her speedy recovery and return home. Poor girl! |
Prayers for Mylee :( |
My thoughts are with you & sweet Mylee. Hoping it won't be long before she returns to her old self. |
Oh, goodness. I got back on YT tonight just to check on little Mylee and read this. Good thing the vet is going in and get that bad thing or things out of there, observe her post-op for a while and she'll probably come home in a day or two. She'll be fine - don't you worry. Vets are well-versed at removing obstructions from dogs! I'm praying and lifting your baby up to God to guide the hands of that surgeon and bring her through this. Please tell us when she's awake when you can and we'll rejoice with you! |
Oh my praying it will pass now. How scary |
I'm so sorry! Still praying for your little one and you Shelly! |
Praying for your baby and that all goes well and that there will be no need for an invasive surgery in order to fix the issue. |
Keeping lil Mylee in my prayers. |
I totally missed your post last night about the vet going in and essentially dissolving the obstruction manually and didn't even see that post until now! I guess I just scrolled past it last night. It sounds to me like the vet rolled the dice a bit in order to save opening the gut which can lead to massive infection if she goes septic despite all the antibiotics they cover them with, plus a lot of post-op issues. I think I like what he did as long as he judged right and if he is right, it can save her a whale of a lot of extra pain, swelling and post-op gas and gut problems. I'll be praying she begins to feel better, shows no sign of infection, wants food soon & has no more issues with this awful foreign object. |
Shelley, Your Mylee is in my prayers. I would steer clear of commentary here that suggests anything but competent care by your vet. Of course vets have to "roll the dice" -- it's called exercising their professional judgment in a case. You seem comfortable with your vet, so that's all that matters. |
