We took Kiki to get her yearly shots & she was due for her heart worm test. So they pulled blood and gave a shot in each hip. She tested negative for heart worms so it seemed to be a routine visit. We had to take her home so we could complete our to do list. I know it is normal to feel bad after the shots. Which she does but when we got back home she was shaking something terrible. I called the vet and they recommended a baby aspirin that she probably had a low grade fever. I got her to eat a little chicken and bite of cheese before I gave it to her. ( hoping it wouldn't upset her sensitive stomach) That helped that problem but she seems so sore. I tried to pick her up to put her back on the couch and she yelped out like I was killing her. I didn't touch any of her boo boos that I know of. She is just laying alone. I hate my baby being sickly.

Poor girl.

It's normal for them to feel kind of icky and sore afterwards especially when they get 2 vaccines at the same time. Sometimes they'll develop a lump where they got the vaccines also. She should feel better in a day or so. Just keep a close eye on her over the new few hours. If you notice any facial swelling, breathing issues, extreme lethargy (a little lethargy is normal),vomiting or hives, call your vet right away. I hope she's feeling better soon.

She did throw up some water after she drank it but she over did it. She drank after the bowl at one time. She is up moving around a bit now. Sitting on the stairs watching me but seems to want to sit by herself.

Been a long night she ate her supper & threw it up before bed time & has threw up liquid a couple f times. But the last time she got sick it had a little blood in it. I do have some GI mix from the last time she was sick that I just gave her a dose of I hope it helps - will be calling the vet as soon as they open. I really hate this I have to work 3 12s back to back & my boss is gone on a work trip so calling in or coming in late/leaving early isn't an option. My husband is going to have to take care of her.

I hope she's feeling better soon. That's exactly why I only allow the vet to give one vaccine at a time, and space them out with a month in between. Mine handle them better that way, and there's less chance of a bad reaction. Also, if there is a reaction, I'll know which vaccine caused it. My vet gives the vaccines under the skin, and not in the muscle, which is less painful for them.

Update: vet this morning they are treating her for pancreatitis. We didn't do the blood work yet. Partly because the treatment was going to be the same either way and her regular vet took the day off. But she is feeling much better today she was starting to dehydrate and he shot her up with fluids and no food for 24 hours.

That's encouraging! I have found with pancreatitis that small bland meals can help them not feel as bad. I hope she bounces back to her old self very fast!

Why are you getting her yearly vaccines? The DHLP only needs to be given as puppies then maybe if you are unsure get a titer. But, realistically they only need to be given every seven years if that much. Your baby is much to small to take all that poison into her system.

I just posted about this on the general board in response to a shot question.

I took Maggie to the shelter clinic this year and they did the sub-q shots. Maggie had zero reaction. Usually she is acting like the poster described and I think it is pain from the needle in her muscle. Her vet did not do sub-q and I think the needle caused her muscle to ache. I wonder if the method makes a difference? If not, I will request sub-q the next time the vet does her shots.

I let her go 1 1/2 years between her shots because I don't believe a vaccine has a timer that expires at 1 year. I don't know the right answer to how often. Aren't titers quite expensive? Should Bordatella be yearly or does that last longer as well?

What is a titer? She didn't have a reaction before they think this was an under lying issue that just showed up in the same time frame.

I dehydrate chicken & sweet potato as her treats but for now she is on a bland diet. Do u think those treats are bad for her after we recover from this episode? I didn't know cheese was bad but she only got a very small amount
