Another night at the vet for Zeus!

My little Zeus has to spend another night at the vet. This makes 3 straight days and nights that he hasn't been at home with us. I know he is getting the treatment that he needs, but I just miss him so much. The vet still can't get a handle on his pancreatitis and now thinks he may also have inflamed bowel disease. His lipase levels had come down, but spiked again this am.

Please say a little prayer for Zeus and his vet, that they might find what is causing this and put him on the road to recovery. I am going to visit him after work. Thanks everyone for the support and hopefully my baby will be home tomorrow.

I am so sorry you baby has to spend another night away from home. My cat has inflamed bowel disease. The vet put her on a special diet and she has to get a shot of meds every few months. My vet advised that my cat can live a normal life with this disease, but it does have to be managed with diet and meds that work for the animal. I hope Zeus gets home soon and feels better.

Keeping Zues in my prayers ...you must be so worried but I agree with everyone - this is best for now and I hope he's home really soon. I know I'd be losing my mind too. GOOD LUCK and GET WELL ZUES !!

I am sorry to hear your little guy isn't feeling well. It's so hard...they can't tell us where it hurts or if they are feeling better. I am not a vet but, do you feed him human food? I have a friend that has a very small mixed breed and she only feed human food. (Actually she feeds him from her plate) Her little guy ended up with pancreatitis and her vet told her to stop the table food. Well, she has been feeding him like this since she got him and he is 7 yrs old now....I don't think she is going to be able to change (MO). My Mom rescued a Mini Schnauzer and she has had pancreatitis 3 times....Her vet (who is also my vet) told her the same thing...she is now on SD.

Hi Brenda! No, this is the frustrating part, from day one, he has only gotten dog food. I have been such an overprotective mommy right from the start, and have tried to do everything by the book, so we really have no idea why this happened. He first started showing signs about a year ago, after having peanut butter dog treats. From that day on, he was never given any treats, only prescription dog food and it got better for awhile. We have been battling this since then and trying different diets and nothing has seemed to work. I am determined to beat this and I know my little guy is strong enough to do it!! Thanks again to all for the support and advice!

My vet did tell me there is no cure, but he has had patients that live very happy and long lives.

sorry your baby has Inflammatory Bowel Disease. My Bichon also had this and lived to the ripe old age of 17 1/2. once it was under control with the meds he was on a diet of Wellness-whitefish and sweet potato and he did very well. Good luck
