Just putting it out there... scratching behind the ear may not have been mentioned to the vet, but that, when combined with neuro issues, becomes a 'symptom' or a part of the picture at least. If the vet didn't look for Chiari, it could very easily been missed on any scans/tests. Vets don't normally look for Chiari in Yorkies, as it is more common in other breeds like Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. All the OP needs to do is ask if the vet specifically checked for Chiari. If yes, fine. If no, then they need to is all I'm saying, IMHO. |
My guess is that MRI and spinal were done to come up with the diagnosis they did come up with. But, who knows. |

So, you opted not to do testing and just treat the symptoms? I am sure that was not the choice of A&M...just want people here to be clear so they don't start bashing the vets which happens a lot. MRIs are very expensive and sometimes people will opt to treat as if. |
I'm very sad to hear this news as this pup needs to have the MRI. |
