| ![]() For as long as I can remember my 5-year old yorkie Oliver has made a coughing sound when he gets excited—usually on walks or when we're playing. We've always guessed that it's just a reverse sneeze. Last night, after a particularly long play session with his grandfather (!), he started snoring in bed. It's the first time he's ever done that, and for the last 18 hours he's been making a noise somewhat regularly that sounds kind of like a dry cough. I've recorded him making the noise, and you can hear it here: Oliver - YouTube Do any of you think this is serious enough for me to take him into the vet? |

| ![]() Thanks for the advice. After watching a bunch of videos, the sound he's making is a lot like Kennel Cough. He doesn't really come into contact with other dogs though, and this came on just after that particularly rowdy play time. Do Kennel Cough and CT result in fairly similar sounds? |

| ![]() Thats what comes to mind. Kennel Cough or Collapsed Trachea. No expert. Just calling my vet over the phone and letting them hear the clip. They are pretty good at helping out their best without charging an arm and a leg. Call around to.different places and at least see what advice can be given.

| ![]() If he has a runny nose, with clear or white phlegm after he coughs chances are he has Kennel Cough. I'm actually going through this with my dog now. Its crazy because she is not around other dogs except my other 2 dogs which are fine plus since it has been cold lately, we do not go out for walks. She is up to date on all of her vacs. I'm not sure on how the heck she got it...its a pain in the butt having to separate her from my other 2 fur babies. I spent New Years disinfecting everything and steaming the floors in my home.
