| Luxating patella surgery referral and cost Hi guys, Some of you have probably have had this surgery done. My yorkie was diagnosed with it a while back. He is now limping and can't stand on one of his hind legs. I am taking him to the vet but I am pretty sure he will need surgery at this point. How much can this surgery cost? I am in Bay Area. The preliminary estimate I am getting is $2,800 to $3,800, which seems like a lot for this. Quality is obviously important to me but I thought these surgeries were running about $1,500. Also, any referrals to a Bay Area (preferably Peninsula) vets are appreciated. Thank you! |

| The cost sounds about right to me. Yes, you can get it done cheaper but not with a board certified surgeon. I personally will not allow a general vet to do these surgeries. Hopefully someone can suggest a surgeon for you. Welcome to YT.

| It was around $3,000 for Callie's but you need to make sure an orthopedic surgeon does it not a regular vet.
