Thanks for the prayers. The injections seemed to help a lot at first in just the discomfort level but only as long as a stayed down and quiet. If I walked, cleaned house or sat up much, the pain would come right back very bad. It was scary as I thought it would start hurting non-stop again so I basically stayed down on the couch when I wasn't doing just the essentials it takes to live and keep Tibbe going. Awful few weeks but finally I'm a consistently better and can sit up longer now w/out it getting scary bad.

To answer your question, Tiki has not had itching or bumps on her back, but all my dogs get some eye boogies regardless of what I feed. Tiki does occasionally but rarely throw up a little, so does Kayla (who doesn't have MVD), however I can't always rule out that the cause may be because a guest has shared some people food with them.

Hm, you know if the Purina HA trial doesn't work, I'm giving your food a trial next. Even though Tibbe doesn't scratch anymore, he still seems to break out. I'm using Hexaclor or something that sounds like that for his bath and that's helped the bumps and together with the Clavamox and perhaps the season and the cold air and autumn being over, he's not as bumpy but his eyes still drain on some days. This past two days he's had no eye drainage. It is a puzzle but I'm sure hoping a change in his food will help and I won't have to home cook. Right now, I'm not even cooking for myself, though I will for Tibbe if that's what it takes to stop his bumps and eye drainage.

No allergy problems or upset tummy. He still sleeps a lot and groans constantly but is much, much better than before we knew what he had. Thank you for your concern and your prayers. I'm sorry your little one has MVD, too! Tibbe was diagnosed this early summer, too, but thankfully isn't having to take medication - knock wood - so far. He had been sleeping and nauseated, not eating and spitting up bile quite a lot before his testing, diagnosis and diet change after his diagnosis but since adding the hepatic food - which started his scratching - his sleeping is back to normal amounts and his level of activity is back to normal. He's feisty, bouncy, [I terrier ]mean[/I] and playful again - which is so great. It's so good once they make a turn for the better, isn't it? Wonder what the groaning is about - just a habit or do you think he's in pain or something? Poor little guy. I sure wish him - and you - the best with his MVD and hope his future is better still.

What's wrong with it? Ugh - several concurrent conditions with it from re-injuring it in a central heat unit explosion/house fire 10 days after back surgery at L4-5; L5-S1 to little dessicated disc material left at those two levels, NRI; spinal stenosis, just to name some. Acupuncture isn't covered by my insurance so it's financially improbable for me and the drive across Dallas and back again to the nearest one that I would trust would more than likely undo a lot of the good the treatment might bring about. Driving is particularly painful and always has been since the fire. IDK what happened in the way of scarring in the re-injury but I have such pain with sitting and lifting the right leg to use the gas, brake, even with the re-alignment my gas, brake, plus a build-up in the floor of the truck several different times. Never found a vehicle that doesn't hurt to drive. Driving to work and here and there has been painful as heck since despite having the pedals adjusted over and over. Probably going to have an epidural next and hope that helps but for now, it's far more comfortable than it was in December.
