| Can it be sadness? This is kind of long, so please bear with me. I'm hoping you all could help me brainstorm to figure out what is going with on with Kaji. Over a month ago, Kaji and I moved from our apartment that we shared with my mom and dad, to a house that we share with my 2 brothers. Everything went well, or so I thought. As soon as we started spending more time at the house, Kaji started to gag like he was going to throw up. It wasn't frequent, and nothing really came of it. Then he started to throw up, not often. Maybe once a week to a week and a half. It was so infrequent that I never connected the any of the episodes together. I thought maybe he picked something up in the backyard that didn't agree with him, and vowed to watch him better. (FYI, Kaji doesn't pick up random stuff from the floor. I'm pretty proud of my little obedient boy. ) That is until 3 weeks ago. At around 3 am one Thursday morning, Kaji threw up on everything. My bed, his bed, the clothes I laid out for work, my pillows, the floor. It was EVERYWHERE. I never imagined he could throw up so much since he's so little. After emptying his tummy, he dry heaved and cried for a bit. After he calmed down, he was back to being regular old Kaji. Happy, perky, and of course ready to eat. It was so perplexing!! I had already had several phone conversations with his vet, described his symptoms, and what perplexed us both is he was always happy, peppy, perky, ready to play, ready to go for walks, and of course, ready to fill his belly with any food I would be so kind as to offer him. There's a reason I call Kaji my little porky yorkie. I'm getting a little off topic, but anyway... So I get up after the big vomiting episode, write notes on everything that just happened, checked his gums, his temp, the color of the vomit, the contents, Kaji's reaction, EVERYTHING. In the morning I take my note and Kaji to the vet. The vet runs blood work, and checks Kaji out. Of course, Kaji is shameless and is playing with the vet the whole time she is trying to examine him. She sends us home with the task of collecting samples to bring back, and to give Kaji a bland diet for the next few days. Kaji's vomiting ceased, but... that's when the diarrhea started. It was bad. Kaji had to go out every 45 mins. After 2 days of diarrhea, it was nothing but blood. Of course, Kaji and I were at the vets the next morning. What does the vet ask me: -What's his appetite like? Normal. Overzealous. He LOVES to eat. -Is he lethargic? *Kaji is trying to get her to play with him this whole time, bribing her with kisses, and nuzzles* She answered that questions herself. -Let's see the bloodwork.... Normal. No parasites, no infections, a little problem with the kidneys, but that is due to the dehydration caused by the vomiting/diarrhea. I asked her to run tests again. So after all that, the results of the second blood work, urinalysis, fecal, and dropping quite a bit of $$$ the vet determines that physically Kaji is A-OK. He's ok now. I've been vigilant and have done everything the vet asked me to do and he's much better. No diarrhea, no more blood, and no more vomiting. After the second blood work up, I got to thinking back. How did Kaji react when we moved the first time? I had only had him 5 months when we moved from my apt in school to my parent's apt. He made himself sick then too. He was constipated, and developed a UTI. But after getting use to the apt, my parents, and my awesome brothers, we didn't have too many issues. We lived there for 3 and a half years. Kaji loves my parents. Every day at 3 pm, he would sit with grandma on the couch and sun himself while she read a book. At 4-4:30, he would go lay with grandpa as he iced his knees and rested his back. At 9 pm, he would con grandma and grandpa in to thinking the other hadn't already given him a cookie. He had a routine with them. So that brings me to this conclusion... Is Kaji sad without grandma and grandpa? We have traveled before, and he has had sleepovers with Uni. So he knows going away is ok, but he always expects to go home or for us to go home. He is, and has always been an anxious little dog. Last night, I dropped my mom off at her apt after spending the weekend with us. Kaji and I walked her in, but getting him out of the apartment was hard. He wouldn't follow me out. He put on the brakes and there was no moving him. He had to be picked up and carried to the car. It's not like he hates the house either. He runs around all happy, loves to try to make friends with the cats that hang out in our backyard, has become very protective of the house, and he's getting use to walks again. We've had 0 potty mistakes, and overall, I couldn't be happier with the transition. But guess who's stool is getting soft again? That's right, Kaji's. Even if we can't figure it out, thanks for listening.

| Poor Kaji! It's so frustrating not being able to pinpoint the problem through tests. Could be nerves, but I would keep your eyes open for anything else that is different or unusual. Any chance of changes in food that he is being given? Praying for your little Kaji boy that he doesn't have any more episodes.

| Any change at all or any stress makes Rosie sick. So it's possible. She has IBS which I guess flares up?? Could this be possible with Kaji? Just throwing out ideas. Another thing that flares her up is if she eats ANYTHING different. I used turkey instead of chicken in her home cooking and she threw it up. So any kind of change at all sets her off. Again, just some thoughts. Hope Kaki feels better soon.

| So sorry to hear about your Kaji. Although I can't shine any light, I thought I'd drop in to say that I sure hope you find out what's making him ill. How wonderful that he is sooo happy and energetic. Cheers! |

| I think you mentioned cats in another thread...do you think maybe Kaji ate cat poop? It sounds like he ate something that gave him upset tummy & cat poop is delicious to them, don't know why maybe the xtra protein...but it's so gross! Momo ate something when we were out for a walk & stuck my finger in his mouth to get it out & it was s**t! I think it was cat poop. He did do retching movements like he was gonna vomit.

| He had a bit of loose stools last Friday (after Thanksgiving). Kaji was not given any food other than his normal kibble. He also has started to act like he's throwing up again. He never did throw up, and was fine by Monday. However, we had 10 extra bodies in my house and which I know is incredibly stressful for him.

| They can get stress colitis, etc., but it seemed the vomiting came on slowly. Blood and xrays can be normal with primary IBD and even secondary IBD. Hard telling what is wrong, but sometimes management is enough to prevent recurrence. Probably need a special diet along with meds next time. Then if it keeps happening, a specialist...
