| ![]() thank you guys for all your help. feminvstr- I am wondering the same thing as to why she changed what meds he was on. she told me specifically that it was for the coccidia. i even have it written down because i took notes that day. im not sure if should be mad at her, but i am nonetheless. i gave him some honey, but i will try putting it in water because i havent been ale to force him to drink the water. soCaL- he did test positive for the coccidia. great minds think alike- especially when it comes to yorkies i guess. no worries- the more i hear the same thing the better i understand it. thanks sooooo much all of you for replyng so quickly.<3<3<3

| ![]() oh thank you for the eye dropper suggestion- he is finally drinking some water. and he did pee, so im hoping he isnt too dehydrated. he perked up quite a bit too, after drinking the water. he ate a little of his rice and even gave me a good licking :] i was starting to think he hated me for letting him feel so yucky...while he's still not his normal self, he is looking a little better. so i feel better. thanks again. looks like tonight will be a sleepless one. i cant wait for him to feel better. thanks again guys, i really dont know what id do if i didnt have YT to turn to. every yorkie breeder should require their prospective puppy owners to become a member. thanks so much ladies<3<3

| ![]() Jackie I know exactly the worry you feel. My little Evan had a rough start. Cocci hit him at 8 wks which resulted in Hypoglycemia, I almost lost him 3 times. He lost all his hair from only eathing baby food that was syringe fed for a month straight every 3 hrs around the clock. Albon was persrcibed, but ask your vet about Benbac. Albon kills ALL the bacteria; good and bad. You need to replenish the good bacteria so ask yoru vet about that. Usually Benebac is given at the same time as Albon. Just, give him the Albon and lots and lots of love. He'll get over this common hump in no time! Evan sends his love, here's a pic of Evan at 13wks when he was really sick (his little legs were shaved from IVs) and bald from losing hair and then a pic of him now at 8 months ahd 4.5 pounds and beautiful steel blue silk hair growing back. A picture of health. You are soo consciencious, Sirus wil be fine! Hugs!! |

| ![]() omgoodness what a cutie pie he is. Its been a tough night, but i think he is going to be ok. i am trying to be as conscientious as possible without giving him manchausen sydrome- i swear i think he has every disorder the more and more i read. now hes peeing so much from me giving him water which he BARELY drank all day. so of course now i think he has a liver shunt all over again. :/ i cried so much today once my parents got home to take me to the emergency vet. i really thought i was going to lose him- i know ive only had him for 2 weeks, but i swear it feels like a lifetime already. my parents thought i was crazy to be crying, but i felt so bad for him being so sick. hes sleeping now and ill wake him up in about 2 more hours. hes not eating the rice anymore, but i did manage to get him to take some nutrical willingly. do you guys think its ok that all hes taking is the nutrical and water? sounds like im holding him prisoner or something. i did mix the water with a little honey like feminvstr suggested. he has vomited in a while [except for a little water, but i think it was from him drinking so fast] so i think his tummy is feeling a little better. Should i be waking him up to feed/water him??? i just dont wanna do the wrong things...im sorry for the 27289 questions and misspellings- im trying to stay awake and be alert, but i think im losing it ![]()

| ![]() You are doing great...I wish you could get some actual food in him but the rice is maybe enough for now. I think if he eats every four hours through the night and you get him to the vet or get to the grocery store or the pet store or both for the baby food and the puppy colostrum in the morning..that would be great. Hang in there! ![]() |

| ![]() I haven't read all of these posts carefully - so hope I'm not repeating someone. If your dogs appears to be hypoglycemic - and you give him karo syrup or honey - you don't need to worry about his not swallowing it or vomitting it up. If you just rub it around the inside of his mouth and under his tongue - his body will absorb it through the tissue and he will still get it in his system. So saith my Vet....... Carol Jean |

| ![]() Yep, always try to get some of the sugar substance under the tongue. It will absorb very fast from there. The area under the tongue has a lot of blood vessels...that is why we tell heart patients to put their nitroglycerine tabs UNDER their tongues.. BeneBac is a life saver. Any time one of my nursing moms has to take antibiotics, I give BeneBac to the mom and puppies. Any stress and my puppies get BeneBac. They leave here with a tube and instructions as to how to use it. When I don't have it available, I give a small amount of acidophilus for hoomans. All of my newborn puppies get it as soon as the puppy is cleaned and warmed. I read that in a Yorkshire Terrier magazine a few years ago and have not lost a newborn puppy that was alive when born. |
