Bless her heart. She looks so pitiful. They shaved Kacee about the same. It seemed like it took forever for her hair to grow back. It is swollen. Be sure to put the ice packs on often. That really helps bring the swelling down. Give her hugs and kisses from us.

So sorry about your neighbor. I lost my favorite neighbor a few years ago to pancreatic cancer. I still find moments where I wish he was still here...he was a great guy. That is so nice that you are there for your neighbor.

makes me remember my nana and her always thanking me for taking time out of work to bring her to the doctors. i was happy to do it and it means a lot to them. it something money cant buy a bond of caring.

Calleigh is doing better tonight. I hope the new med will help her even more.
It is sad for my neighbor. So sorry about your Nana. It is hard to see this happen to anyone, never mind someone that is really close to you. I can tell it does mean a lot to him, he tells me, but I can also see it in his eyes.

I know some people do leave their pets overnight. Maybe they're not aware there is no one there to watch them. It seems pretty scary to me to have surgical animals there alone.
My neighbor seems to be handling things ok right now. He is glad he will have rides when he needs them. My daughter is going to clean and cook for him. It's hard when your family isn't around. I know he would do any of this for me if need be.

Hi Karen,
She does looks pretty pitiful doesn't she. I don't remember them shaving Calleigh's hair that short for her other surgeries. Oh well. I have been icing her leg today and moving it around slowly per the instructions. We'll just continue with this and the meds as prescribed.

I would never ever leave my pups in any place where they were not supervised. I too have seen people do it. Just not for me.

That is so very nice of you and your daughter. I am sure it is a big relief for your neighbor. So sad he does not have family close by.

I know you wouldn't leave your pups unattended either.
Calleigh seems to be doing pretty well today. She wouldn't eat her breakfast though. I think it's because I put the medications in her food. How do you get yours to take different medications? Would you know which of the three I should not put in her food? She is on Metacam, Buprenorphine and Cephalexin. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Probably the Cephalexin. Metacam and Bupranex are pretty much tasteless. I would not put them all in the food just because if she eats only part of the food, then you don't know if she got all of her meds.
I am assuming the Bupranex is liquid..I know the Metacam is. Just squirt them in her mouth.
Not sure about the Cephalexin but if a pill, I would wrap it in something to give it...cheese, pill pocket...something she likes.
Be sure she eats with the Metacam!

If the cephalexin is in pill form and she won't take it, then I would ask the dr for the liquid suspension. I'm glad she is doing better today. :)

Karen,
The antibiotic is in liquid form. She likes it, and it's not a problem. I don't think she liked it in her food. I give it to her out of the syringe. She ate really well today. She's all cuddled up right now in her blanket. Thanks for checking up on her.

Nancy, you're prayers are working. Calleigh is coming along nicely. I may have to put the E-collar on her while I'm cleaning today. I noticed she was lapping her incision a little while ago. I am keeping her covered with a blanket, but she found her way to the incision. Thanks so much for checking on her.

I gave her the Cephalexin straight from the syringe. I put the Bupranex in a small amount of food and hand fed it to her. Then after she ate most of her food, I put the remaining Metacam is a small amount of food. She ate everything. She had all of her meds this morning. Oh happy day! Thanks for your advise. It is so appreciated.

I'm so glad she is eating. That will make a lot of difference. Hava a good night. I hope she gets better and better with each passing day.

She is coming along nicely. I'll have to leave her with Pat my neighbor tomorrow, when I take my other neighbor to the Oncologist and then for another test. I think she'll have to stay in the stroller. Pat has a minpin, not the friendliest dog and a cat. It will probably be better to have Calleigh tucked away somewhere safe. It should be interesting. Thanks again for checking up on her.

She looks cute as can be, Carol. She looks like she feels better. I'm sure she'll do fine with your neighbor in her stroller. Pat will take good care of her.

Thanks so much everyone. Calleigh is doing much better now. It's wonderful to have so many friends to lend their support. I'm truly blessed. I am happy to be with her all day today. Yesterday was very tiring. Calleigh did well at my neighbors in the stroller. I zipped it up so Pat wasn't nervous about her minpin and cat getting near her. Tomorrow is another busy day. We are going to a chemo/nutrition class. He will know how the fluid from his lungs tested on Friday. The doctor said it looked suspicious. Ugh...He is so happy to have all of his family visiting this weekend. Thanks again for checking up on us.
