giardia is not a mystery to vets. Treating it should be simple. Get her to another vet, like so many before me have mentioned. My daughter is a young vet. Trust me they are not all created equal. wish she could help u out. |

The infection will eventually just get worse in a weakened animal and fever that long is hard on the dog's organs. If you can't afford care for your and it's ill/suffering, you will have to surrender the dog to a rescue so the little thing can get help. That's the loving, selfless thing to do. |

excuse me are you serious right now? Ill have you know that I STILL HAVENT PAID MY RENT jst to take her to the vet. YOu dont know my financial situation so dont say that i have problem SPENDING on her . I rather starve if it means taking care of her. how ignorant can you be and my vet said she has giardia thats y he prescribed the other thing. thats not right how you are judging me and if you look online you will see my vet is rude and sarcastic Dr.Katz needs a new career Provided by Citysearch "This vet Is rude and unkind he has no passion left or love of animals. This place is taking advantage of the Bronx community. High Prices for horrible care. Go to the vets on Riverdale Ave. in Riverdale. The Prices are not much higher. They love animals. Bronxites you deserve the best." heres the link: Bronx Veterinary Center Bronx, NY, 10458 - YP.com please please please do not talk if you dont know! |

Calling Ladyjane ignorant is really not doing Bunny or you any good at all. I know you are upset, but name calling is not helping to get her well. I am so thankful for Ladyjane and all the help she has given me with my pups through the years. She can really help you if you will give her a chance. Also, I read nothing about her judging, she is thinking of your dog and it is not about you at all. Anyway, prayers for Bunny... |
FYI, Ladyjane is right & she's very knowledgeable, she's been through many experiences w/her foster pups & her own. Your vet prescribed antibiotics to help clear up any bacterial infection she might have. Since you had limited funds available, I doubt any full panel blood work was done? Or if it was done, he would have seen the infection & prescribed the antibiotics. He asked you to bring her in so he can examine her again, but you refused...how is that going to treat her? I hope all goes well w/her new vet tomorrow & she gets the proper care. I read up on giardiasis & fever is not one of the symptoms, although every dog is different. Leptosirosis does cause fever. Was the giardia confirmed w/a stool sample? |

did you read the bold part? Name calling is not going to help but insulting me wont either. how shes going to say i have a PROBLEM spending money on her "/ i would give up my life for her and obviously I still have not paid my rent because she comes first. I am glad she is nice to you and has good advice but as you can see how rude she is being to me |
Boy, I just didn't see how Ladyjane was rude. She does such wonderful work for dogs, helps all of us here constantly when our dogs are ill, but she will tell you like it is. She's very straightforward where dog well-being is concerned. That's not being rude. If you can't afford the best vet care your dog needs and it has to drag along ill with fever because you can't afford needed tests, second opinions and so forth, you should not have a dog. It's that simple. No dog should have to suffer for lack of excellent care. What will you do if the dog gets very, very ill, has to be hospitalized with IV's, constant 24 hour life support or God forbid should get hit by a car and need an ORIF of a fracture? When you get a dog, you've got to anticipate it will get ill or hurt and need the best care and there is just no denying vet care is extremely expensive. This dog will likely need dentals, spaying if that hasn't been done. I'd go ahead and surrender the dog now so this medical condition can be adequately tested for, properly diagnosed, treated and get the sweet little dog well starting tonight. The idea of a little dog dragging around with a fever, feeling bad, is just horrible! The dog's well being is the only thing that matters now. |
I'm confused about this thread. Clavomax is the first line treatment for Giardia. An antibiotic DOES reduce fevers if that fever is caused by a susceptible bacteria. A couple of days have been wasted and this pup is still sick because a vet was, according to the OP, sarcastic and she did want to go back to him. I'm glad the puppy is getting seen by someone else tomorrow, but sad that care was delayed because of a personality issue. Sometimes, is better to put our own egos aside and deal with the issues at hand before they become even more emergent. |
