How is your pup? Were you able to get her to a vet? |
dog If there is an emergency vet clinic in your town get your dog there asap! Yorkies are fragile and go downhill very fast. I will pray for your dog. |

Perhaps you could call the new vet and explain to them the pup has had a fever for over 5 days and that you are VERY worried about her and that you'd like to bring her today. Tell them that you will sit and wait in the waiting room until they can see you. It will not cost anymore to do this and your baby will be seen sooner. I would certainly try to take her in today. This baby needs to be seen sooner than later! You both will feel much better if you do this. Please keep us posted. |

That's good that she is eating and getting around better but I agree, get her into the vet today !! I don't know any vet, including mine that will not make an acceptation for a sick pup. |
Please get her to the vet asap |

Giardia in Dogs | VCA Animal Hospitals Giardia is sometimes hard to get rid of and it may require her to be on the metronidazole longer. You also need to figure out how she contacted the giardia so you can get rid of the source. I pray she starts feeling better soon. |
Emergency Vet where all the latest equipment resides and fluids, meds can help bring temp down until a diagnosis is made. If not, you will very likely lose her quickly. |
Fever can cause a pup to lose appetite. Not sure if giardia causes fever? Fever can be an indication of infection...she is not shivering bc she's cold, she's shivering bc she has a fever. Hope all goes well @ the vet. Make sure her fever does not go over 104-105, that is an emergency situation. She can die if her fever reaches 106. How are you taking her temp, from the rectum? High Fever in Dogs: Symptoms and Treatments I would borrow money from a family member or friend or even a neighbor (promise I'll clean their place once a week for a month for example), whatever I can to take her to the vet asap. She might need VitB shot, must have sub-q fluids & possible IV. |

My guess is he is handicapped because of that....vets are not mind readers and need physical exams and vital signs in addition to tests being run. There is a reason for the fever....some type of infection and he is giving meds to try to cover anything that it could be that is causing the fever. Giving something for the fever is not the goal....a fever is there because the body is trying to fight whatever your puppy has. So....if the cause can be fixed, the fever will go down. I hope you can find a way to get your puppy the care that is needed. It is very scary that she has been ill for so long. |
