A little bit of an update... Buster has been doing very well this week and is acting like nothing is wrong except one small thing. Hoping someone might have some insight into this. Buster keeps licking his paw pads and legs. I am wondering if this is an allergy type of thing? The only thing that has changed (besides his medicine/chemo, etc) is that I have been putting his medicine in pill pockets made of duck. Let me tell you these things STINK but he loves them. He has never had duck before and wondering if this is causing itching. Anyway, this morning I changed back to wrapping his medicine in fat free Swiss cheese and we'll see if this helps. Anyone have any thoughts on this? |
Although I don't have personal experience with food allergies, I would suspect the duck as the cause of licking. Hopefully the change to Swiss cheese will do the trick. I am very happy for Buster and you that he is doing so well. |
Just read all the threads to this post. My heart goes out to you and Buster. It was nice to read that he is doing better at this point and time. Reading that you posted you enjoy hearing him barking again, just makes me think of the times my YT barks and that it can get irritating at times. I shall certainly look at it differently now - at least he is able to bark with no problems. Amazing what we take for granted!! So glad that Buster isn't in any pain and that he has you to be by his side and give him everything possible to make the rest of his stay here the best!! Wishing you and Buster much time to love each other. You are both in my thoughts and I hope for a miracle here!!!!!!!! All the very best:) Keeping positive thoughts going here in BC Canada:) |
Praying for Buster and you, Lisa. Glad to hear he's doing well. You are both in my thoughts and prayers daily... |

A little bit of an update this morning.... Unfortunately Buster doesn't seem to be feeling the greatest today. I would describe it as lethargic. It has been one week since his chemo therapy and I wonder if this is the period of time where he is going to feel tired and yucky? He was not interested in following the morning routine and just laid in his favorite chair in the living room. He did eat though. This week his daily medicine consists of Pepcid AC, prednisone, and Clavamox, as a precaution. I am taking him at 8:00 to have a CBC with a differential count. Fortunately this can be done at the regular vet's office and he will not have to endure his foster mom driving in the "wild, wild west" (Cincinnati rush hour traffic) this morning. |
Thanks for the update. It is much appreciated! Totally feeling for you today, more than ever. Here's hoping for a miracle. You and Buster continue to be in my thoughts BIG time!! |
Prayers for Buster....I hope he is better. |
Sorry to hear Buster is feeling a little down today, but glad he is eating. Praying the CBC will bring good news, and that Buster feels better tonight or tomorrow. |
Sorry Buster is feeling kind of low. I hope more good days are ahead for him. |
Thank you all my YT friends for your support during Buster's illness. Sadly, Buster went to the Rainbow Bridge last night. Heartbreaking.... |
Oh no Lisa! I'm so very sorry.... crying here for you both... I know your hearts are broken. At least you did your best to help him and now he is pain free and whole again at the Bridge. RIP Buster... know you are loved by many, but especially your Mom and Dad. You'll be in our hearts forever. Hugs, Kathy |
Oh Lisa I am so very, very sorry and heart broken to read that Buster has passed. You were the best Foster Mom to him and he knew he was so loved. He will always be watching over you from the Rainbow Bridge. Sending out hug's to you during this difficult time. |
Oh Lisa, Bless your heart, I am so sorry! My eyes are filled with tears, my heart's braking for you. I thank God for bringing you into Buster's life, you gave him so much love and joy. God's letting your sweet boy rest in peace now. :rainbow: |
RIP sweet baby boy. Bless for all the good memories you gave your foster Mom and YT. Lisa, you are the best foster Mom there could be! |
I'm so very sorry that Buster lost the fight. I know how sad you must be Lisa. Please try to take comfort in knowing you filled his final days with love. |
Lisa, I am shocked and saddened to hear Buster has passed. Praying for your comfort in knowing he is at the Rainbow Bridge, free from illness. Because of you, he knew great love and care. He had the pleasure of Piccolo and Vivi's company. The pictures of the 3 of them together are to be treasured. Rest in peace, Buster. |
2 Attachment(s) Thank you each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers. I hold each of your comments dear to my heart. Buster went down very quickly yesterday. He went to the vet in the morning for a blood test and back in the afternoon because he was stumbling. It turned out that he had an unusual reaction to the chemo and had severe anemia. So bad that it could not be read on the test. He was not able to hold up his head after we arrived at the office. Such a difficult decision but I did not want him to suffer a second longer. It is the greatest love, but the most difficult too. :unlove: My husband said that fostering (and having pets) is not for the faint of heart. So true. I wanted to end this post with two pictures that I put on Facebook this morning of Buster. Kind of an "In Memory" thing. The first is of Buster at the shelter in Indiana. Poor Guy and this is the way he looked when I fell in love with him last November. Attachment 392874 The second is his Halloween costume. Wish he could have stuck around to wear it to our party. :unlove: Attachment 392875 I also wanted to say thank you to Yorkie Haven Rescue for giving me the opportunity to foster. It is the most rewarding thing I have ever done. Love you Buster... Hugs to all, Lisa |
Soooo sorry to hear:( Please take comfort that you did all that you could for dear Buster. I'm sure that he had the best of care and much love as he was fortunate enough to be fostered by you!!! Good Karma:) My thoughts are definitely with you and the others that took care of Buster. |
My heart goes out to you on the loss of sweet Buster. You gave him the wonderful life a darling like he deserves. RIP Buster, you were loved. |
I just heard about Buster! I'm so sorry to hear little Buster has lost his fight to illness but he won in every other way with his courage and heart. He's finally at peace. It just broke my heart to read this thread and many, many days I couldn't. I can imagine the pain you are having right now and pray that God sees you through this time of such great darkness and suffering. I'm praying for you and so sorry, Lisa. |
Lisa, my heart is aching right along with you. You and your family have given Buster so much love and the photos you shared speak volumes of just how blessed and happy he was to be with you. I will always think of him in that cute hippy vest, knowing how much he was loved. What a wonderful gift you gave him in his last home before going to the Bridge. He was so lucky to be with you and your husband and Pic and Vivi. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest in Peace little Buster, you have touched our hearts. |
Oh Lisa, I am so very sorry. It can come so very very fast. If you need to talk, I will be at home later on today. Please feel free to call me at your convenience. (((((((((Hugs)))))))))) |
Oh yes, the hippie vest!:) |

Lisa I am so sorry for your loss. Sweet Buster knew what the love of a real family was because of you and your DH. I know your heart is broken right now. I have you all in my prayers. |
Lisa, I know your heart is breaking right now. It seemed to happen so fast. I supposed it is a blessing in a way. He was the luckiest dog ever to have you and Robert taking care of him. I'm sure he will be truly missed by you, Piccolo and Vivi. God Bless you for being such a kind and wonderful person. xoxo |
