| YT Addict | Hello everyone. Thank you for all the thoughts and vibes for Jenna. I think we've made progress. So her vet prescribed 1/2 a tablet of Pepcid which I gave her yesterday afternoon. She was still a bit down for most of the evening, but by bedtime she was visibly more comfortable and even begged for food. Her vet wanted to fast her though, so she couldn't be allowed to eat. She didn't want water, which worried me, but we just went to bed and for the first time in quite a while, she had a good night's sleep and wasn't as restless. She even came up to go under the blankets with me, which she hasn't wanted to do while she's been heaving. Makes her feel too trapped. She was asleep on the pillow next to me this morning, obviously feeling somewhat better because she hasn't done that in awhile either. She went out and had a good toilet, came back to eat about 1/8 cup of her kibble, which she kept down! She's been resting all day today, so doctor says keep up the 1/2 tab Pepcid every day for 7 days. If she is still doing well by then, she'll be on it for another 4 weeks. His conclusion is that she has a weak pyloric sphincter and it's allowing acid to reflux into her esophagus. We're working to ease up that acid. She had another small helping of kibble at about 6 PM and just had her Pepcid as I could see her starting to swallow in her sleep again. She's a bit restless at the moment, but we're off by a few hours from when she had her dose yesterday, plus she has food in her tummy instead of fasting. I have to wonder if this is my fault. If I have been overfeeding her and that's made everything in her gut to slow to a crawl, causing the need to vomit. If so I feel terrible. We have our other dog here, a corgi/collie cross, and she eats 4 small meals a day...of course it drives Jenna nuts to see this other dog eating more so she begs more. I should've kept her to two small meals a day, maybe this wouldn't have happened. At any rate, we go with this treatment since it seems to be doing the job. I want to thank everyone for their suggestions and helpfulness. I would be lost without this wee girl and to think of her becoming deathly ill again, and just as we're supposed to start seeing really cold weather come back, just didn't bear thinking about. I will update as conditions warrant, but I hope we've turned the corner! Thank you all once again!
