I am glad to hear she is doing better. Keep it up. You are doing fine. Take a few deep breaths before you get her and do it. The calmer you remain she will be less squirmy. You are doing great ! Hugs and puppy kisses to you both |
Great news! I'm so happy for Cassie's continued improvment. WTG Cassie!!! |
I give Bentley allergy shots monthly and it does get easier. Glad to hear Cassie is doing much better! |
Thanks Thank you all for your faith in me. I did it this morning and I her her squeal, I think I moved the needle inside of her and lifted her skin, but I believe I got it all in, as I don't think there was any wet on her back. She seems to be breathing quite well, and sleeps a lot. I have her hear right next to me sleeping in her stroller. My only concern is her eating. Her appetite, which was at times was luke warm and other times pretty darn good, now is very poor. She will only lick a few licks off my finger tips and I am worried. She keeps refusing food, even food she loves. I have to beg her to get her to eat just a few licks, although the other day she ate okay. What do you think? |
That's no good...please be a good girl and eat, little Cassie!!! Continued prayers for you... |
I hope she starts eating and continues to improve |
I would think there is something to add to her food to make it more enticing. I just don't know what that would be, maybe someone else has suggestions. If nothing else, ask your vet...I'm sure they know what would be safe for her, yet make her want to eat a little more. Anyway, keep up the good work, you're doing a wonderful job...Cassie will continue to improve...one day at a time. |
If you have to hand feed her to get her to eat, do it for a few days.... and if she'll only eat a little bit, try feeding her more frequently. Her appetite will come back and then you can gradually decrease the hand feedings.... |
I'm sure you've heard it before, but picky eaters have a hard time resisting food when you add a little home cooked chicken and rice, and others make food more enticing by adding a little Parmesan cheese on top of food. So glad she pulled through and is doing better. |

Still praying. The hand feeding and chicken/rice is a very good tip. Give that a shot. Chicken broth drizzled over food can sometimes entice them to eat also. |
Ask your vet about mirtazapine...it is a great appetite stimulant. |
I'm so proud of you!!! I can imagine how difficult it would be to give shots!!!! What a great mom you are to little Cassie! |
Update Hi everyone, I'm sorry I did not post everything I'm doing or have been doing in my previous post. Please forgive me. Things I've tried: I always feed by hand, this is our usual routine. I've offered food with grated parmesan cheese, turkey gravy (just a few drops), regular cheese, canned salmon which she took a few licks and then turned away-she likes this a lot but it has added salt so I don't offer it too often, and only a tiny amount when I do, pureed baby food chicken, a few licks and then turns away, even her favorite, rib eye steak ( only a few tiny pieces with no fat whatsoever just to see if she would eat it, and she did, but I can't feed her a meal of that, it's just too rich.). I've been offering food every two hours, but the ER told me that they offered every four hours and she seemed to have more of an appetite. I ran out of baby food, so I ran to the supermarket at midnight and picked up 10 jars, and the girl at the ER suggested they baby vienna sausage, she says she gives it to her 2 lb dog and he loves it. I offered at 6 AM and she ate two whole sticks. Now its 12:30 and she is refusing everything I've tried, since six this morning, even the same baby meat sticks. So this is where we are at now. Now I have to go try to give her her shot. Was unsuccessful last night. Hoping and praying it goes well, as those needles are so hard to push in straight with one hand. Haven't tried the chicken and rice yet, thanks for the tip. Will try this too. Off I go to try the shot again. Love, Shellie |
That tip of mirtazapine sounds promising. I'm going to ask my Vet. Thanks. |
So glad to read improvements in each update! Hopefully her appetite will improve soon, but everything else is wonderfully encouraging. Cassie is one lucky girl to have such a great mommy! Prayers for continued improvement and I'm so glad you have her back home! |
Thank you and UPDATES Thank you all for your continued support and good wishes. Great news!!! I brought her back to the ER because I was not having success in giving her the shots two times in a row. They say after tonight, we are through with the shots!:DYaY!!! So we have to come back tonight about 1AM for her final shot. Tomorrow we see specialists and have an echo, heart worm test and x-ray, to start, and then we will see is anything else is needed. By all accounts, she is looking very good. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You have all helped in the reality of her recovery, and we have all together, pulled off a miracle, "snatching her from the jaws of death"!!!! Miracles are possible with unbounded love. For every one who has sent a prayer for us, given us wonderful advice, kept us in your thoughts and consciousness, you are the miracle workers, and you have participated in changing reality. You are the ANGELS of yorkie talk. We are forever grateful and humbly in your debt. With Love, Shellie, Cassie and Muffin |

Update-Grave News Hello all, Today we got very grave news from the cardiologist. Although her pneumonia is completely cleared up, and he sees no more evidence of this, (he attributes this to good ABX-but I know different) the results of the echo were devastating. She has severe pulmonary hypertension on the right side, so much so that he gives her less than a year to live. He has stopped the lasix and the ABX. I was absolutely devastated. He says he doesn't know why she has it, where she got it from, but it is fatal. He is putting her on viagra, of all things, which he says can help to lower the blood pressure. I will talk to my holistic Vet. But right now, I am exhausted, and extremely depressed. I need to go cry myself to sleep. |
Oh no. I am so sad to hear this. I'm praying for you and Cassie. |
I am so sorry. Hugs |
