Julia has a spider bite???

I know what you mean. It isn't taken in a bad way. The thing I kept thinking about Teddy Bear being so small, about 16 lbs., and he doesn't have that much flesh on his bones. I was so afraid that the infection would get into his bone and my mind was going crazy from there. It seems like a bigger dog fare a little better.

I do know what you mean. You can tell when something is off in their behavior as well as physically off. Isn't it a great feeling when they start feeling better and start acting normally again? Especially after you had that sick feeling in the pit of your stomach when you got the devestating news. And you don't know how badly they are hurting because they can't tell you. I am so happy that Julia is doing so well!

mpit. But not in the pit. So it was in a meaty part, too! She is definitely feeling better this afternoon. Back into her routine of barking at anyone or animal that walks by the house. Or if she hears the school bus driver or UPS truck, etc., etc. HAHA


DH said he will get the exact name of what he bought. It's made by Bayer though. It's in a blue bottle sold at Lowes and Home Depot. It kills all of the insects. I'll have the exact name for you in a day or so. But he sprays it every Spring and Fall. He is actually going to be spraying it a little early this Fall. The insects are just too bad this year.


I'm SO happy we missed what could have turned out to be a whole lot worse. It's not exactly in a spot you can just see. But we are constantly rubbing, scratching and just loving on our babies that we know if something feels off on their bodies right away. Ya know what I mean?

I haven't been on in a few days & I'm just seeing your updates. I'm so happy that Julia is recovering so well!! I felt horrible that I told you about that "flesh eating disease" thing I saw on TV. I hope I didn't make you worry even more!! It looks like if it was a brown recluse, a very minimal amount of poison made it into Julia's body. Because honestly, it looks NOTHING like what I saw on TV. Julia is beautiful!!! I'm so glad she's okay!! Thanks for the updates.

No worries, Teresa. You didn't make me feel bad. I Googled up images though. Now THAT made me feel awful. Thank goodness she didn't get the full effect of the venom. It is getting a little better each day. Ill just be glad when its completely well. Then ill stop worrying so much. Lol Its so hard being a mom...even if my child does have 4 legs.

I am very happy that your beautiful Julia is recovering. Praying she will be back to 100% soon.

All of these spider bites! Teddy was bitten by a regular spider last year causing a large lump between his shoulder blades. No skin was broken, but it took about 3 weeks to go down even with meds.

Poor baby. I'm glad he didn't get a brown recluse bite even though any spider bite is painful and scary I'm sure.

Here is an updated picture of Julia's bite taken today. It is healing. Just not fast enough for me. I really believe had we not noticed it so soon it would have been a lot worse. I'm So grateful that she didn't end up losing a lot of her skin with this. So please, if you notice a bite on your pets or even yourself, get to the vet or doctor immediately.

It is looking so much better today. I believe you are right. Getting them to the vet immediately is critical to keep this from getting really bad. I'm so happy that both of our pups fared so well with their spider bites.

Julia's bite is looking better! I think it may take a while for it to go away completely...kind of like a pimple, you know? I'll continue to keep her in my thoughts.

Just seeing this thread! Max also got a spider bite a couple of days ago!! He wasn't feeling well and after vomiting blood last night I took him to the ER and then my regular vet for a diagnosis. Whew, hopefully he heals quickly.

So glad Julia is doing better.

Ive been keeping up with Max. I'm so glad he is on meds now so he can get better. Julia still has a large round area that is a dark pink with a scab in the middle where the bite was. These spiders mean business. It just seems like the starting biting all of a sudden or something. I just know that Im ready for winter so we don't have to deal with them. I will continue to pray for Max. Please continue to keep us updated on his progress. Hugs to both.

Good to know that there's a scab on Julia's bite now! So I guess she's all healed up? Yay Julia!! Hugs to Max too. What's with all the spider bites lately? Do they come out when the seasons change? I have to be more aware of them. I see lots of webs in out backyard.
