| Bella's spay is today! Well, today is the day of our dear Bella's spay. I dropped her off at 7:30 this morning, and they are supposed to call me right after the surgery to let me know how she did and when I should pick her up--it's 2 PM and no word yet. I'm not worried... yet. They will also remove her extra baby teeth and microchip her. They said that should would not need an Elizabethan collar unless she wants to get an acting job in a historical movie--whoops, I mean unless she licks and picks at her incision site. Bella can be quite a handful, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she acts sensibly after surgery. I will post an update after I pick her up... |

| I hope Bella recovers really quickly after her spay and that she will soon be free of pain. If she starts licking her incision, you could put a baby onesie on her backwards. Her tail can come out by the snaps.

| I've read about the onesie on Yorkietalk. I live close to Walmart, so I can swing by and check them out if necessary. I've heard that the onesies for premies work best. Thanks for the well wishes for Bella! Oh, and thanks for suggesting that the onesies should be put on backwards--I've never had to deal with them before, and I might not have figured that one out, LOL! |

| Hope Bella will have an uneventful surgery & a quick recovery! Mom to Hot Rod makes the kiss-e collar, it's a soft e-cone. They're great for post surgery, grooming & many other uses, even for training! Just fold the bottom tip & they can eat & drink w/it on too. The Kiss-E Collar

| Wishing you all the best on this very nervous day. Soon she will be home, and you will be amazed at how she snaps out of it in a couple days.

| Bella is back from her spay. They did laser surgery, and used stitches that have to come out in two weeks. She also had only two baby teeth remaining that they extracted--both canines. Her blood work was completely normal! She was happy to be home, but she is sleeping it off right now. Thanks for the well wishes! |

| Bella is up and about this morning, but she is clearly tender from her surgery. She wasn't prescribed any take-home pain killers. She is eating, drinking, and peeing properly, but she is not pooping on her potty pad like she normally would--she doesn't have full bowel control yet. If she is still whimpering from pain by this afternoon, I will see if we can get her some pain medication from the vet... |

YT 2000 Club Member | They should have asked you if you wanted pain meds . I always request it. It keeps them comfortable. Hoping her recovery goes well.

| Glad to hear Bella is doing well after the surgery. I agree, the vet should have sent home pain meds for her. My vet doesn't even ask. She sends home with the dog and if you don't have to use them, all well and good. As far as pooping she is going to experience some pain, I know our dogs did. Sometimes it takes a couple of days for them to get comfortable again. Don't panic but you should request some pain meds. |

| Thanks for the support! Bella is beginning to try to lick her stitches, but she can't reach them because they are on a part of her belly that her head simply can't reach. I will reassess in one hour and give the vet a call... |
