I simply want the best for Brandi, I really do. Hopefully you can get this flare up under control and she is able to be stabilized long enough to get a diagnosis. Then you can work from there. I am one that has to have an answer, I can't just blindly accept not knowing. I would not be able to live with myself if I were to continue treating a probable disease and not knowing for certain that what I'm doing is the best possible treatment for my baby. My mind, heart and soul would not, could not, rest until I knew what was ailing my pup. Again my prayers will continue for Brandi. |
Update: Took Brandi for a check up because the infection was just not clearing up. It is about 70% better but not gone. So now she is on another round of antibiotics. Just the one was not doing the job so she in now on two different ones (the same as before) along with her daily dose of Cortisone, Fish Oil, Famotidine and eye meds. She is being kept on the 25mlg of Cortisone for an additional 2 weeks until the infection is completely cleared up and while she is on the antibiotics. Than she will gradually go back down to the 15mlg. which we now know is the proper dose that she needs in order to keep this illness from taking over her body. Thank goodness for Peanut Butter: They Love it, so much that this morning I had both her and Quincy begging for their medication. It was crazy . . . I just tab a little on the pills and they eat it right up without any fuss. :) |
Gosh darn it, I knew I was forgetting something. I just realized that if forgot to talk to the vet about the possibility of CUPS. I will be sure to do that once this infection is cleared up and we go back for a check up in two weeks. Oral Ulceration and Chronic Ulcerative Paradental Stomatitis in Dogs. Just to clarify the ulcers where not in her mouth they were on her upper front lip and were cleared up with the first round of antibiotics the first time we discovered this illness. Regardless I will still be sure to ask ! |
Sending prayers for Brandi's continued improvement. |

Update: Brandi has finished another week of antibiotics and has one more to go on just the one. All signs of the infection are gone (nose, lips, eyes) all good. She looks so much better and acts like she is feeling mush better too. She is back to eating solid foods. She is taking the entire Fish Oil capsule like it was a treat. She will remain on the 25mlg of steroids until she is done with the antibiotics and we go for a check up. I'm very pleased that there has been only one potty accident in the house for almost three weeks and of course that is when my son was left to care for the dogs. :) |
Oh wow! Yay for Brandi! :) So glad she's recovering nicely! |
Wonderful news Dawn. My prayers for Brandi, always... |
