| Looks like another tape worm! OMGoodness, DH took the dogs out this morning after he got home from work and when they all came back inside, informed me that he found small whitish things in Princess Sophie's poop! OH NO! It's only been about two weeks since they both were treated for this and I'm about to freak out!! Called the vet who said I could bring in a specimen and they would check it our for free. Guess they do this all the time. So...we get to the vet, they take the sample to ogle it under a microscope while Sophie is jumping all over the place wanting to get some attention from everyone there. She knows all the techs at this point. Some more intimately than others. They weigh her, a full 5.1 lbs!! Yeah!!! Then they give me the news... it can't be a tape worm because the medicine is good for 30 days. Then they drop the bomb...she's been eating bird food. WHAT??? Yes, that's what they said, bird food. Well we do have a bird, a fancy green cheeked conure named Cali and Cali likes to throw some of her food outside her cage to see the dogs come running. LOL! Well that was a relief. No worms, at least for now. That's great news.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Diane, I'd be concerned & try to stop her because if there's bird poo on the seed (that Sophie has found to be such a delicacy ) she could contract a bacterial virus. Happy to hear it wasn't worms!

| Yes, I understand that can be a problem so I am vacuuming every day around Cali's cage. Thanks for your concern. That was the first thing I thought of when I heard it was bird seed. Trying to be a good mommy!!

| OMG Diane, I can't believe that Princess Sophie is already that big. I guess they just can't stay little puppies for very long. I still think of her and Ozzy running all over the place at the dog park . And another OMG! we used to have a Nanday Conure that would feed our beagle. I actually have a photo of the beagle sitting up begging at the cage? Anyway I am really glad that your little furbut is alright! Looking forward to seeing you in the Fall!!!!! |
