| You are not supposed to give them cooked chicken bones. When they are cooked, they become brittle and they splinter. Raw chicken bones are fine.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Bones can still cause problems even though they are raw. There are very specific rules with raw feeding and how to do it safely. Are you absolutely sure nothing is lodged in the throat?

| Bones are ground into mush in raw food. They are not recognizable as bones.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That's just one type of way some people do it. It's called the BARF Diet, but they feed whole bones and it's very controversial. Advocates don't always let you know the disadvantages and problems, so it's best to do a lot of research and minimize your dog's risks.

| I've seen the raw bones at the pet store but never really looked at them since I would not give my dogs the bones. I have noticed that they are big bones not small ones like chicken bones. The next time I am at the store I will check out the package. I definitely would not feed chicken bones - raw or cooked.

| If she honked b4, maybe it's just allergies or something is tickling her throat...have you opened up her mouth to see if anything is in her throat? Like hair or grass or whatever. Acid reflux also makes them honk or make reverse sneeze sounds. If a dog had a piece of bone enlodged in his/her throat, it would be pawing @ his mouth & coughing, showing extreme discomfort. How's she doing today?

I do feed Joey bison back rib bones. Wylie's Mom recommended them and you can buy them at Whole Foods. There's just a tiny amount of meat on the ribs and the bones are too big for them to chew, but they can gnaw on them and wow do they love this treat.
