He's laying next to me so peacefully. I'm so blessed that we found a way to get him to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. I'm so blessed that our angels Dr. Craig and staff took such good care of him. And I'm blessed because I can kiss his furry little head, hear his contented sigh, and watch him raise a little arm to ask for a belly rub.

This is such wonderful progression from your first, heart wrenching post, so full of pain, dispair, and hopelessness!! Of course, I always sing the praises of Royal Canin, especially their prescription diets!! Thank God you found a way to do what was necessary to save your baby boy! The staff at GCVH are phenominal! I am THRILLED they were able to redirect Kimbo's path into his future and it appears the outlook is a glorious one! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

PS: You can try adding ice cubes to his water, and you can also add a healthy low sodium chicken broth to flavor it... just to try to get him drinking more on his own. Good for kidney and overall health.

This is such good news. And to think that the first vet wanted to put him down. I am so thankful that the wonderful posters on this site where able to guide you in the right direction for Kimbo. May his recovery continue and you recover from this nightmare.

What a difference some great medical care can make!!! Vets can give us our babies back almost from the dead at times! Vets and their staffs today work wonders - and YT prayers work their own miracles. So glad your baby is doing so well and so very relieved you have him with you in hope.

So Glad to hear that your baby is better!!!! I am from Houston. Live in Angleton now but work in Houston. I was trying to look up Gulf Coast Vet Specialist and just wanted to confirm their location in case I ever have an emergency.

I had the exact same situation. I don't know why Liver Shunt is automatically suspected. Mine was pancreatic problems too. She is doing great also. Good luck.

Happy to hear both pups are doing better. It seems unnecessarily frightening when vets bring up the "liver shunt" possibility too early in the diagnostic process, when there are many less critical possibilities for illness which should be ruled out.
