Lepto affects the liver and kidneys, that's what the MD's were most concerned about when my veterinarian cousin came down with it.

Could you by chance contact someone who could come and take care of this problem? I'd be putting out traps.
I sure hope none of your babies get sick. I'm so sorry to hear Bear is sick. I hope he has a full recovery. Maybe you could help them clear the yard from kid toys and then have her keep the grass cut real short. She could put traps out overnight, then take them up before letting Bear out in the mornings. Clutter is an invitation for rats.
